BOCA RATON, Fla. – Baseball America and D1Baseball each released their respective Preseason All-America teams on Monday. Florida Atlantic 1B/OF Nolan Schanuel was included as a selection by both publications with first team recognition from Baseball America and a third team nod from D1. Schanuel is now up to four All-America selections this preseason.
The run started in mid-December when the Boynton Beach product earned a third team nod from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. That was followed by a first team selection from Perfect Game USA on January 6. Perfect Game also recognized Schanuel on its Preaseason All-C-USA team and named him as the league’s Top Prospect for the 2023 MLB Draft.
Schanuel now joins Tyler Frank (2018) and Jeff Fiorentino (2004) as previous Owls who have been named as a Preseason All-American by three or more publications. Frank (now a member of the Tampa Bay Rays organization) is the only other former FAU player to be a four-time Preseason All-American.
