TAMPA, April 18, 2022 – The University of South Florida softball team will close out their seven-game road stand with an in-state road swing to No. 13/14 Florida and Central Florida.
The Bulls and Gators will play a double header on Wednesday, April 19 starting at 6 p.m. They will then head to Orlando for the annual War on I-4 starting on Friday, April 21.
LAST WEEK
South Florida went 2-for-2 last week, sweeping the double header against the Stetson Hatters. In two games, the Bulls hit five homeruns, with three of them happening in the sixth inning of game two.
Vivian Ponn (Fort Myers) and Marissa Trivelpiece (Sugarloaf, Pa.) each hit two homeruns that day. Both of Trivelpiece’s came in the second game. Ponn hit the game winning homerun in the first game in the sixth inning.
Ponn and Trivelpiece went back-to-back in game two. Lydia Castro (Lithia) joined in on the fun, hitting her second homerun of the season one batter later.
Ponn earned her second win of the season in game two, pitching the final 3.1 innings. Jaden Martinez (Tallahassee) earned her 13th start of the season, pitching 2.2 innings. Gabriella Nori (Weston) pitched a complete game in the first game, earning her sixth win.
