BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic softball team (22-7, 4-1) has played in two American Athletic Conference series and with today’s 8-3 win over UAB, the Owls have clinched a series win in both.
The Owls opened Saturday’s contest with four runs on five consecutive hits in the bottom half of the first inning. Starter Jaden Martinez returned to the circle with the 4-0 lead and the confidence to toss shutout softball in the game’s first three innings. Martinez got the win after four innings, allowing four hits and two runs, only one earned.
Florida Atlantic plated two more runs in the bottom of the third, added another in the fourth and the sixth to account for each of the Owls eight runs. The Blazers’ final run of the game was unearned and came in the fifth for the 8-3 FAU final.
NOTES/NOTABLE
- For the second consecutive day, the Owls tallied double-digit hits, nearing their Friday total of 14 with 13
- Presley Leebrick continued her hot-hitting ways with a second 3-for-4 outing in as many days. Leebrick’s two-day total includes six hits in eight at bats, five runs, and two RBI
- Trinity Schlotterbeck was 3-for-4, including two doubles, with three RBI
- The Owls three, four and five hitters recorded two hits each: Kiley Channell went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI; Kamrynn Jackson was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI and Jesiana Mora rounded out the multi-hit players with a 2-for-3 day that saw her cross the plate three times
- Martinez improved to 5-1 on the year while Ainsley Lambert picked up her team-leading fourth save

The two teams will return to Joan Joyce Field to wrap up the three-game series at noon on Sunday.
