BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic softball (36-12- 16-5 AAC) swept the Roadrunners on Sunday afternoon after a 3-1 victory to close out the series.
With the sweep the Owls improve to 36-12 overall and 16-5 in conference play. The victory this afternoon marked the 36th win of the season. Head Coach Jordan Clark surpasses her 35 wins from last season. UTSA falls to 12-37 overall and 3-18 in the AAC.
UTSA scored in the first and Florida Atlantic answered back with a run by Kylie Hammonds to tie the game. With a 1-1 score through the bottom of the sixth when Becca Jones went in to pinch hit and recorded an RBI single to right center to take the lead 2-1. Back-to-back RBI singles by the Owls as Hammonds made it to first and brought in Abby Ota to extend the lead for Florida Atlantic.
Junior Ainsley Lambert made are 29th appearance of the season as she went in relief of Gabby Sacco. Lambert recorded her eighth win of the season to improve her overall record to 8-2. The Owls had Jaden Martinez in the circle to start the game. As a pitching staff, they recorded nine strikeouts.
