BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic’s softball team will face Louisville, Maine, Michigan, and Seton Hall in the second annual Joan Joyce Classic. This tournament will take place from Thursday, Feb. 15 through Sunday, Feb. 18.
The Owls will play a total of five games during the weekend in honor of the legendary softball coach Joan Joyce, who led the FAU softball program from 1995 until her death in 2022. She is one of 29 NCAA D1 coaches to reach the 1,000 wins mark. As player and coach in softball, golf, and several other sports, she is a member of 21 different Hall of Fames.
On Saturday Feb. 17, Joyce will be recognized during a ceremony at 3 p.m. prior to the game against Michigan.
THE LAST TIME OUT
Florida Atlantic will face Louisville in its first two games during the weekend. These two programs have faced each other five times in program history. The last matchup was last season where the Owls went 0-2. On Friday night, they will compete against the Blackbears from the University of Maine. The Owls last faced University of Maine in 1995 in Orlando, Fla. for a neutral site game where Florida Atlantic came out with the victory. After a couple of years, the Owls will take on the Wolverines for the first time since 2018. For the last game of the Joan Joyce Classic for Florida Atlantic, they will face the Pirates of Seton Hall on Saturday night at 6 p.m.

- Junior Ainsley Lambert leads the pitching staff with two wins as she enters this weekend. Lambert has recorded a 2.55 ERA with nine strikeouts in three appearances
- Outfielder Kamryn Jackson is ranked No. 7 in the nation in hit by pitches, Jackson has a four HBP on the season
- Presley Leebrick leads Florida Atlantic in runs (4), hits (8), and batting average (.471).

- As a pitching staff, the Owls hold a 3.13 ERA
