CONWAY, Ark. – The Florida Atlantic softball team concluded its trip to Arkansas with a 13-1 victory against Central Arkansas on Tuesday afternoon.
The Owls went 4-1 in Arkansas after the going 3-1 in the Wooo Pig Classic and taking on UCA this afternoon.
Pitcher Trinity Schlotterbeck started in the circle for Florida Atlantic and picked up her eighth win of the season. Schlotterbeck went four innings with four strikeouts.
THE GAME
The Owls got the bats going early in the game as they scored at least a run in every inning. In the first inning, Kiley Channell hit an RBI single up the middle to get Florida Atlantic on the board.
In the second inning, four more runs were on the board for the Owls thanks to another hit by Channell, this time a two RBI double to right center, to extend the lead 4-0. At the second bases loaded walk in the inning, Jesiana Mora registered an RBI to make the game 5-0. To get the third inning started, catcher Megan Moll hit her first double of the season to left center. Second baseman Cameryn Orland singled up the middle to bring in Moll and extend the lead to 6-0. With a sacrifice fly from Kamryn Jackson, Orland was able to score the seventh run. With two outs, Mora hit a two RBI single up the middle and increased the lead to 9-0. Graduate Cally Kildow, pinch hiting in the fourth inning, recorded an RBI single to score Maddie Mayo. With Moll up to the plate with two outs, she hit her first home run as an Owl, a three-run bomb to left center to make the game 13-1.
Schlotterbeck faced 18 batters on the day and recorded four strikeouts. Sophomore Kelsey Endress allowed no runs pitching one inning to close out the game in relief for Schlotterbeck.
STATS & NOTES
- After going 3-for-3 with three RBI, Mora leads the team with a .458 batting average
- Moll went 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI
- Jackson scored twice to up her team-leading run total to 21
- With the home run by Moll, the Owls now have 11 on the season
- Channelll, Mora, and Moll each registered three RBI
- Schlotterbeck moves to 8-2 on the year
- On the day, the Owls recorded 13 runs (their season high), 12 hits, 13 RBI, and six walks.
QUOTABLE
“We dominated on all sides of the ball tonight,” said Head Coach Jordan Clark. “We talk about playing aggressive, fast, and throwing the first punch and we did that today. We scored in every inning and saw 15 different players get opportunities tonight. Megan Moll was lights out offensively and took advantage of her opportunity. We are really proud of how we have handled our first road trip.”

The Owls will remain on the road as they travel to Wichita State for the first American Athletic Conference matchup on Friday, Mar. 8.
