SB | Florida Atlantic Takes Game One Against UTSA

BOCA RATON, Fla..– The Florida Atlantic softball team (34-12, 14-5 AAC) won game one of the three-game series against the ‘Runners in a 6-1 victory on Friday evening.

With the win, the Owls improve their record to 33-10 and 13-4 in the American Athletic Conference. After the afternoon game, Florida Atlantic remains first in the AAC standings.

THE GAME

The Owls took the lead early in the game by scoring two runs in the first inning with a two-RBI single by Kamryn Jackson. UTSA answered back with a run to get them on the board. Sophomore Kylie Hammonds went in for Cammeo Presutti and recorded an RBI single that scored Megan Moll. Behind Hammonds was Presley Leebrick, Leebrick hit a two-run homer to right field on a 3-2 count to extend the lead and the Owls are up 5-1 in the fourth.

In the fifth inning, catcher Kate de Leon hit a sacrifice bunt to score Jesiana Mora to improve the score to 6-1.

Junior Gabby Sacco started in the circle for Florida Atlantic. Sacco picked up another win and improved her record to 10-3 on the season. She threw another complete game, her fifth of the season.
