SB | Florida Atlantic Ends the Weekend with Victory Over the Bulls

TAMPA, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic softball team ended the weekend with a series victory against South Florida on Sunday afternoon after defeating the Bulls by a score of 6-2.

With the win, the Owls move to 38-13 overall and 18-6 in the American Athletic Conference. Florida Atlantic is tied for first in the AAC standings.

THE GAME

The Owls picked up right where they left off from Saturday and scored three runs in the first inning on Sunday. Third baseman Jesiana Mora hit a ground-rule double to centerfield to score Cammeo Presutti, giving Florida Atlantic the early lead. Freshman Kiley Channell hit an RBI single to third base to extend the lead to 3-0. Mora was at it again in the second inning, this time with a single up the middle that scored Presutti. Trinity Schlotterbeck hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield, scoring Presley Leebrick to build a 5-0 lead. The Bulls answered back in the third with two runs.

At the bottom of the sixth, Kamryn Jackson made a diving catch with two outs to end the inning. Mora scored on an error by South Florida to bring the score to its 6-2 final.

The graduate Schlotterbeck started in the circle for the Owls and registered her 16th win of the season, improving her record to 16-5. Schlotterbeck threw her ninth complete game of the season, facing 27 batters on the day.

The Owls will take on the Golden Hurricane of Tulsa University during Senior Weekend, where the 11 seniors will be honored. Game one of the series is scheduled for Friday, May 3.
