BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic beach volleyball will open the 2024 season as the No. 11 team in the nation in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Preseason Coaches Poll, marking the highest preseason ranking in program history.
It also marks the seventh consecutive season that Florida Atlantic has opened the year ranked in the Top 20.
Florida Atlantic is coming off one of its most successful seasons in program history as the Sandy Owls enter their second full season under head coach and 2023 CUSA Coach of the Year, Steve Grotowski. The Sandy Owls captured the program’s first-ever CUSA Championship title in 2023, marking the program’s second-ever conference title, and earned the team’s second-ever NCAA Tournament bid, marking the first time in program history that Florida Atlantic was named conference champions and earned a bid to the NCAA tournament. The Sandy Owls also earned CUSA Pair of the Year, CUSA Co-Freshman of the Year, two CUSA First Team Pair nods, and two CUSA All-Freshman Team plaudits last season. During the fall, the Sandy Owls pair of Ashleigh Adams and Julie Honzovicova were named the October Conference USA Co-Pair of the Month.
