BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women’s basketball’s Janeta Rozentale and Sofia Galeron have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, announced on Tuesday.
Janeta has played in all but one game and made 23 starts for the Owls this season. She leads Conference USA in offensive rebounds (69) and offensive rebounds per game (6.9), ranks eighth in rebounds per game (6.0), tied for 10th in blocks (16) and ranks 11th in blocks per game (0.67). This season, she is averaging a team third-best 8.8 points per game, while leading the team in rebounds with 6.0 boards per game. She also leads the team in blocked shots, while also dishing 29 assists and collecting 22 steals this season. Janeta is the Owls’ active career leader in rebounds (511) and currently sits ranked eighth all-time at FAU in career rebounds. She’s also tied for second in the conference with four double-doubles this season.
Sofia has played in 19 contests and made 11 starts this season. She has scored a team-best 7.1 points per game and ranks second on the team in rebounds, pulling in 5.4 per contest. She has knocked down a team-leading 31 3-pointers and has shot a team second-best .352 from beyond the arc. Sofia has also dished out 23 assists, collected 14 steals, and blocked four shots this season.
To be selected for the academic all-district team, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, be a sophomore academically, have a year-in-residence at their current school, and have appeared in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
