OTHER TEAMS TO MENTION (OTM):Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, BYU, and Mississippi

RANKINGS ANALYSIS:

No surprise that the top six teams in my rankings remain undefeated after this past SAT. As you can see, the top seven remain the same. We are getting to the end of SEPT but the best is yet to come….As you can see, I had to switch undefeated teams Penn State and Coastal Carolina. Both teams had tough as expected wins over their respective teams. The Nittany Lions had a 28-20 home win over Auburn in a game that was arranged for them to win. The CCU Chanticleers held on to have a 28-25 road win over Buffalo. Penn State will have an easy home game against Villanova this SAT (Noon, BTN) while Coastal Carolina will have an easy home game against Massachusetts this SAT (1 PM)…All defending national champions need a real challenge in trying to repeat. #1 Alabama is no exception and finally got one by escaping with a 31-29 road win over Florida, who had among my OTMs last week.. A lot of people thought the Crimson Tide was going to cover the spread but didn’t. Gotta take our hats off the Gators, who showed why they are the defending SEC East Division Champions. A rematch between these two football teams in the SEC Championship Game could be in the cards. Alabama RB Brian Robinson better get his motor running to turn on the jets because I thought he would have a breakout season after being a back-up RB. Alabama has a home game against Southern Miss this SAT (7:30 PM, SECN) while Florida has a home game against Tennessee this SAT (7 PM, ESPN)…#3 Oklahoma is coming off a tougher than anticipated 23-16 home win over Nebraska, who was their top rival in the Big Eight and the Big 12. It wasn’t a surprise the Cornhuskers were going to challenge the Sooners because of Nebraska QB Adrian Martinez leading the charge for his football team. Oklahoma will have another challenging home game as the Sooners will start Big 12 conference play against West Virginia this SAT (7:30 PM, ABC). The Sooners better not look past these Mountaineers for a Oct.2 road game against Kansas State….Cincinnati remains ranked #4 after a 38-24 road win over Indiana. The UC Bearcats will have a bye-week before coming back to the state of IN for an Oct. 2 road game against Notre Dame. Should Cincy be victorious, all things are possible for this football team…Speaking of Notre Dame, the Fighting Irish are coming off a 27-13 home win over in-state rival Purdue. This football team will have a neutral-site game (in Chicago, IL) against Wisconsin this SAT (Noon, FOX). Notre Dame QB Jack Coan will play his former team and should know their strengths and weaknesses. The Irish better not look past these Badgers for their home showdown against Cincinnati…#5 Iowa keeps winning to remain on a 3-0 start. The Hawkeyes are coming off a 30-7 home win over Kent State. Iowa will have a home game against Colorado State this SAT (Noon, FS1)…No surprise that #6 Oregon had a 48-7 home win over Stony Brook to remain undefeated. The Ducks have a home game against Arizona, who is on a current 15-game losing streak, this SAT (10:30 PM, ESPN)….Texas A&M remains ranked #10 after a 34-0 home win over New Mexico. The Aggies will have a tough neutral-site win (in Arlington, TX) against rival Arkansas, who are one of the top surprise teams in the SEC. Like the Aggies, the Razorbacks are on a 3-0 start and are looking to end a current nine-game losing streak against Texas A&M. The Aggies, who are on a current 11-game-winning streak, have a lot of questions about themselves, such as their QB and how good their defense really is coming into SEC conference play… Clemson and Ohio State, who each have early-season losses, dropped in the major rankings but still remain among my OTMs. Ohio State got things turned around when they made changes of who the starting RB is. The Buckeyes had a bad 1st half but a good 2nd half in their 41-20 home win over Tulsa. Clemson performed poorly in a 14-8 home win over rival Georgia Tech. The Tigers offense better get back in gear to score points like they have in previous seasons…. Oklahoma State has won all their games by closer than expected to get on a 3-0 start, including two games by below the predicted point spread. The OSU Cowboys have a home game against Kansas State, who are also on a surprising 3-0 start, including a 38-17 home win over Nevada last SAT. I really though the Wolfpack was going to have a road win over the K-State Wildcats in “the little apple.” I had Okie State among my OTMs to begin this season because of the talent they have, other Big 12 teams had a loss, and are expected to have a 5-0 start before an Oct.16 road game against Texas. These Cowboys better get their act together. If Kansas State has a road win over Oklahoma State this SAT (7PM, ESPN Plus), the Wildcats will definitely be in my top ten rankings before an Oct.2 home game against Oklahoma. Right now, the KSU Wildcats own the Sooners since current Head Coach Chris Klieman came to campus to assume his current job...BYU is 3-0 start, including tough home wins in the last two weeks, such as a 27-17 home win over Arizona State last SAT. The BYU Cougars are looking to show the nation how good they are after losing QB Zach Wilson. BYU will have a home game against South Florida this SAT (10:15 PM, ESPN 2)… Mississippi are coming off a 41-21 home win over Tulane to have a 3-0 start. The Ole Miss Rebels will have a bye-week before an Oct.2 road game against defending National Champions Alabama. Remember last season, the Mississippi offense gave this Crimson Tide defense all kinds of hell by having 647 total yards in a 63-48 home loss against ‘Bama. If the Rebels upset the Tide, consider QB Matt Coral in the lead for the Heisman Trophy race…
