Rasnake Named Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women’s basketball Head Coach Jennifer Sullivan announced the addition of Jason Rasnake as the program’s new assistant coach on Thursday.”I am thrilled to have Jason join us at FAU,” said Sullivan. “He is exactly the type of person we love having in our program: a hard worker who believes in developing true connections with young people. He is an incredible person, a family man who brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and experience.”Rasnake joins the Owls after serving as the head coach at Louisburg College for the past five seasons.”I am deeply honored to join the Florida Atlantic women’s basketball program,” expressed Rasnake. “I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White and Coach Sullivan for this incredible opportunity. I am excited to contribute to the team’s success and support our student-athletes in achieving their goals on and off the court.”Rasnake led the Canes to an impressive 25-5 record during the 2023-24 season. Under Rasnake, the Canes earned multiple all-conference selections and made noise on the national level with an NJCAA All-American Third Team selection.Before joining the Canes, Rasnake served as an assistant coach at USC Upstate, where he supported coach Tammy George and helped lead the Spartans to a 22-win season and a pair of postseason appearances, as well as coaching a two-time Scholar-Athlete of the Year and multiple all-conference selections. Rasnake also assisted in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, scouting and game practice preparation, scheduling, team management, and helping to organize and coordinate camps.Prior to his stint with the Spartans, Rasnake spent eight seasons at NC State under legendary coach Kay Yow and Kellie Harper. Rasnake assisted the Wolfpack with scouting, including working with pre-game player personnel video and recruiting and managing the team’s male scout team. During his time with the Wolfpack, NC State earned three NCAA tournament berths, including a Sweet 16 appearance and a WNIT Final Four appearance.”He has worked with great coaches throughout his career, including one of my mentors, Kellie Harper, during his time at NC State,” said Sullivan. “Most importantly, he will have a huge impact on our players on the court and in their personal development. We are very lucky to have Jason and his family join our program.”Rasnake, a native of Chapel Hill, N.C., graduated from NC State in 2005 with a degree in communication with a concentration in communication media. He went on to marry former Wolfpack player Jennifer Filipowski in May 2009, and he is the proud father of three daughters, Skylar, Emma, and Quinn.
