Port Miami had new leaders

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced new leadership appointments at PortMiami under Director and CEO Hydi Webb.

PortMiami is one of America’s fastest-growing global gateways and the Cruise Capital of the World. The new personnel enhancements will build upon the Port’s role as one of Miami-Dade County’s vital economic engines contributing $43 billion and more than 334,500 jobs to Florida’s economy.

The new leadership appointments are as follows:

  • Andrew Hecker, Managing Port Director, will serve as PortMiami’s Deputy Director overseeing the capital development, finance, economic development, human resources, planning, and strategy divisions. Hecker has demonstrated dedication to the success of the Port since he joined the team seven years ago, leading the department’s debt restructuring while keeping the Capital Improvement Program on schedule. Additionally, he managed the most significant bond financing in the history of the Port.
  • Frederick Wong, Jr., Chief Operating Officer with Jacksonville Port Authority (JaxPort), will serve as PortMiami’s Deputy Director overseeing cruise and cargo operations, berthing office, housekeeping, facilities maintenance, including passenger loading bridges, permits, and safety and security. Wong, Jr. has nearly thirty years of proven maritime experience. Before his tenure with JaxPort, he was a valued member of the PortMiami team for over 24 years, holding his last position of Assistant Director of Operations for approximately four years.
  • George Andrews, Senior Advisor to the Mayor, will serve as PortMiami’s Assistant Director leading both the office of strategy and economic development program for the Port. Since January 2021, Andrews has been responsible for advancing the Office of the Mayor’s policy agenda and economic development initiatives, ensuring robust collaboration across public and private sectors, businesses, and academia. Andrews previously served as Chief of Staff to the President of Miami-Dade College and brings over 30 years of management experience to PortMiami.
  • Andrew Warburton was promoted in January to Assistant Director of PortMiami’s Finance Division. Warburton has been a Miami-Dade County employee since 2014, when he joined the Port as the Assistant Controller and later was promoted to Chief of Accounting.
