Coral Springs residents celebrate EarthFest

From David Volz

The City of Coral Springs hosted EarthFest and a tree giveaway at Sawgrass Nature Center in western Coral Springs. The city gave away about 400 trees on the morning of April 27. The trees went very quickly as many people wanted one. There were orange trees, banana trees and avocado trees and flowering trees. Andrew Lauer of Coral Springs was pleased to see people with an interest in planting trees.

“The trees went very quickly. People were especially interested in the fruit trees,” he said. “This is a good way to educate residents about the importance of trees and a tree canopy.”

The Downtown area of Hollywood has a new restaurant and brewery. The Hallway Tap and Brew recently opened at 1904 Hollywood Boulevard.

Owner Luis E. Diaz has been actively involved in the brewing industry for 12 years and is looking forward to this new venture.

Diaz is supported in this new venture by his family members, who are also the founders, owners, and operators of King Fox Brewery in Hialeah. The Hallway is partnering with a few local craft breweries to bring artisan ales to the community.

“Luis is passionate about the science of brewing, sharing his knowledge, and providing the best craft beers to his customers,” said his executive assistant, Gina Diaz. “He opened King Fox Brewery in 2021 and did homebrewing under the Barley Works Brewing label. He taught home brewing courses and has participated in many beer events throughout South Florida.”

“The Hallway Tap & Brew is poised to become a beloved destination for craft beer aficionados and community members,” he said, “offering an inviting space to savor exceptional brews, enjoy some music, and connect with fellow enthusiasts.”

The Hallway Tap & Brew features a selection of 18 different taps, with two nitro taps and one traditional Czech LUKR faucet. Catering to a diverse range of tastes, choices include traditional IPAs, stouts, sours, German-style lagers, and even an American light beer.

In addition to the craft beers, The Hallway will also offer a curated selection of wine, canned craft cocktails, and non-alcoholic options. While food will not be prepared on-site, several area restaurants and cafés are partnering to provide delivery.
