Philadelphia Eagles vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Post-Game Quotes

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Post-Game Quotes
Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni

Q. What went into the decision to go for it on 4th down late in the game instead of kicking the field
goal? (Eliot Shorr-Parks)
NICK SIRIANNI: We just had to do what we felt was best in that particular moment with the weather and
everything. I don’t want to get into anything else there. Just felt like that was our best option in that
particular case.
Q. What was the feeling on the sidelines when you were down 14-0. Obviously, they responded, but
what did you feel in the moment? (John McMullen)
NICK SIRIANNI: We’ve talked about adversity. Have we faced a lot of adversity? Not really. In three
games, we probably haven’t. We had a battle up there in Detroit, but have we faced a lot of adversity?
Not really. So, it was a great opportunity to say, ‘Hey, we’ve talked about this. We have discussed this.
You players, the reason you are here is because you are built to be able to handle adversity. Not every
game is going to be pretty. It’s going to be muddy sometimes.’ And it was muddy right there.
Our guys buckled down. Defense I thought was playing well. They let up a long drive, but it was 14-0
because we spotted them 7 – they made a good play. I don’t want to say we spotted them 7. They made
a really good play. They got a good pressure on. They made a good play there and finished it for a
touchdown.
Being down 14-0, it’s a long game just like it’s a long season. What a good example there of, okay we are
4-0 right now, we just have to play the next play and the next game. You have to do that same thing in
the midst of a game, not just week to week.
Q. What was working for RB Miles Sanders today? (Zach Berman)
NICK SIRIANNI: [RB] Miles Sanders is our No.1 [running] back, there is no question about it.
Q. Was the plan to run as much as you did or did the conditions factor into that? (Zach Berman)
NICK SIRIANNI: We’ll do whatever we need to do to win the football game. Of course, conditions are
going to play into that. We look at everything. We take everything into account. We were running the
ball really well. That second quarter, our offensive line was rolling. And that’s a good defensive line. I’ve
known that going back to my Indy days that that’s a really good defensive line.
But our offensive line, I’ll take them over anybody in this league. I love that group. They are gritty. They
are grimy. They are tough. They are physical. And we had to play some guys today. You can see how
good of a job that Coach Stout [Run Game Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach Jeff Stoutland] does of
developing guys and getting guys ready to play that might not play. [T/G] Jack Driscoll, [G] Sua [Opeta],
those guys stepped in and did a really nice job.
I told you guys this: nine sacks, you get a game ball for the defensive line. 200 yards rushing, you get a
game ball for the offensive line. If I had eight game balls, I would have thrown them out right there, but
[Vice President of Equipment Operations] Greg [Delimitros] didn’t have them ready for me quite yet.
Q. In the final two minutes of the first half this season, all four games, you have scored. You actually
scored five times twice against the Vikings, 26 points total. What is it about those drives where you
have been so successful? (Jimmy Kempski)
NICK SIRIANNI: Quarterback play. Playing really well and poised in that scenario. We spend a ton of time
talking about situational football, a ton. That’s a tribute to the coaches I have been around in the past of
how important situational football is and the amount of time you spend on it. You emphasize things, but
make no mistake about it, our players are doing a great job executing it. [Offensive Coordinator] Shane [Steichen] and [Passing Game Coordinator] Kevin Patullo do a great job – Kevin does all the scouting
report for it and getting us ready for it and putting together thoughts for it. We talk through it, and
Shane does a great job calling it in that scenario.
What an unbelievable opportunity I have to be able to say, ‘Shane and Kevin, you guys are rolling right
here. You got it. Let me handle clock management with our guys upstairs.’ And we just go. So that’s us
being able to do that and we have really good players executing it. Our offensive line protects their butt
off in those scenarios. Shane calls it the right way as far as going for run and then going to pass. [QB]
Jalen [Hurts] is in complete control. [WR] A.J. [Brown], [TE] Dallas [Goedert], [WR] DeVonta [Smith],
[WR] Quez [Watkins] are in in that scenario. [RB] Kenny Gainwell is our protection back and our scat
back in that area. So, it’s just really good operation by the entire unit, players first and coaches after
that.
Q. Each week a different part of your offense has contributed whether it’s wide receivers, offensive
line, running backs. How good is it for you as a coach to know that whatever the game situation is,
that you can have confidence that you can win? (Chris Murray)
NICK SIRIANNI: I think that’s what it is right there, confidence, right? So, some of the fourth down calls
right here I was able to have confidence in our team to go for it, confidence in our offensive line,
confidence in our backs, confidence in our receivers if we were throwing it or running it, right?
Confidence in our defense that if we didn’t convert it, they’d make a stop.
So, I think you said it right there, confidence. It’s great when you’re able to win different ways, right? It’s
great when you’re — do you ever want to get in a 14-nothing hole? It’s like, ‘Hey, we haven’t been in a
14-nothing hole, let’s get into it.’ That’s not our thought process, but it was great to be able to win
different ways and it’s great to be able to win on different units and lean on different units. Great job by
those guys today.
Q. The environment, what does it tell you about the quarterback? You saw Jaguars QB Trevor
Lawrence turn it over five times; obviously really difficult weather. What does that say about QB Jalen
Hurts to be able to play the way he did? (John McMullen)
NICK SIRIANNI: He knows how important it is to take care of the football and he can do it. He can go out
there and execute and take care of the football, so it’s huge, because that’s such a key. It’s such a key to
winning and losing games.
I think that even elevates when it’s messy outside. It was great that he was able to execute under the
conditions that we were in. It was messy out there. It was really messy. I know [Executive Vice
President/General Manager] Howie [Roseman] talked to me after the game, was like, ‘Did it get worse
during the game?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah. It got a lot worse.’
It got messy and the ball got a little bit wet, but our players are communicating with us what they think.
To have guys like [C] Jason Kelce and [T] Lane Johnson, [G] Isaac [Seumalo], those guys are able to
communicate with you and tell you what’s working, feel what’s working, how the defense is playing,
that’s huge.
Q. You use t-shirts to send messages. I see you have the Roxborough High School shirt on. What is
your message to them? (Eliot Shorr-Parks)
NICK SIRIANNI: You know, I grew up going (to high school games) — one of my best memories growing
up is being able to do the things I was able to do on the football field as a little kid. Whether that’s
pretending I’m Marcus Allen and jumping over the pile and setting the dummies up and jumping over
the pile and taking a hand off. Or if it was giving a player a water bottle. I looked up to certain guys there. Obviously, I looked up to Mike Sirianni and Jay Sirianni. That was the starting quarterback and
starting wide receiver.
I looked up to Pete Connelly, who was the starting fullback and halfback. I looked up to John Briggs, who
is my brother’s best friend and his receiver. To be able to hand them a water bottle and say — you know,
and so I have so many vivid memories about that.
I just feel bad for the kids that they didn’t feel safe, maybe don’t feel safe going there. So, my heart goes
out to them, and my thoughts and prayers go out to them, and hopefully they feel safe going back and
playing a game that can help take us out of bad situations, not put us in bad situations.
Q. What were your interactions with Jaguars Head Coach Doug Pederson like? (Mike Sielski)
NICK SIRIANNI: I have so much respect for Coach Pederson. First and foremost, I’ve heard he’s one of the
best people in this game. From multiple outlets: people in this building, people that have played for him,
people that I know that have coached with him, that he’s a top-notch person.
Obviously, you see what he’s doing with his football team. He’s doing a good job with this football team.
That’s a tough team. That’s a good football team. He’s got them confident and believing.
So, interactions with him are — I like to tell — when I feel like a guy is a really good coach and has a really
good team, I like to tell him. Best compliment I can give is, ‘Hey, your team is really well coached’. I like
to pay that compliment to guys that I believe that about.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Jacksonville Jaguars are really well coached and in good hands
with Doug Pederson.
Q. LB Haason Reddick, you’ve been telling us to wait for it and it finally came. How incredible was it to
see him have that game today? (Breland Moore)
NICK SIRIANNI: You know what’s great about Haason, and Howie [Roseman] was just talking to me about
this. He’s a guy that has been able to force a lot of fumbles. Not only get to the quarterback, but force a
lot of fumbles.
We talk so much about creating turnovers and how you create turnovers. There are definitely things we
can do as coaches to take it to another level. Make no mistake about it, it’s about the players creating
the turnovers, and good players know how to create turnovers.
Haason, man, I said to him and [LB] Shaun Bradley and [LB] Kyzir White after the game, ‘Hey, there is
nothing like winning in Philly.’ Because they know about that. They know about — especially Haason and
Shaun playing here at Temple. They’re quick to tell me at Temple they had College Game Day here.
There is nothing like winning in Philly, and I’m glad we got some Philly guys here that we’re winning
with.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts

On coming back from a 14-0 deficit to win:
“That makes me think about how we’ve played in the second half in the first quarter of this season. And
my answer to the lack of points in the second half has always been [we] just have to execute. We just
have to do our job, control what we can, execute and do our job. That’s the mentality that we have as a football team regardless of the circumstance. [Being] down 14-0, you control what you can, do your job,
execute, dominate your box individually and you tend to do good things. I think today this team didn’t
flinch. We found a way, we didn’t flinch, we persevered. We were unwavering with how we played,
nothing was able to deny us. I’m so proud of how this team played, how we handled the conditions
outside – you have crosswinds going 20-30 miles per hour – it’s in the 50s and it’s raining sideways. [But]
we were pretty efficient in everything that we did. That’s a great team win.”
On leaning on the run game:
“I just think we did what we did. I think what we have to realize about this football team is [that] we can
be efficient in everything that we do. That could be running the ball, passing the ball, defensively. That’s
our goal; be efficient in everything that we do. We look at this game and we see that there is some bad
in it. We see there are some things that can definitely be fixed, but we also look at this and find out a lot
about this football team I think just in terms of being able to persevere, being steadfast, and controlling
what we could. We controlled what we could today and good things happen in the end.”
On the last time he played in this type of weather:
“I always joke about not ever getting rain, but I know if I could [I’d] avoid a hurricane, but yeah
sophomore year in high school is probably the last time I had something like that.”
On how he felt about the offensive line after they lost T Jordan Mailata and G Isaac Seumalo to injury:
“I look at [Eagles T/G] Jack [Driscoll] and I look at [Eagles G Sua] Opeta and those are two guys that have
always, since I’ve been here at least, always come in and be able to play at a high level. Always been
ready when the phone rings and they answer ready to go. Defensively, [Eagles CB Avonte Maddox] going
down and [Eagles CB Josiah] Scott coming up and playing his tail off defensively. Everybody is just doing
what they need to do. I think as a football team that’s what we did. The mentality throughout the week
is what prepared us for this environment today. To be in this circumstance today and be able to
overcome it is a testament to how we work, how we think. We want to enjoy it.”
On going for the first touchdown today on fourth down:
“Get in. Make a way. Nothing more than that. I appreciate the trust in Coach Sirianni in allowing us to,
you know, because [Jaguars Head Coach] Doug [Pederson], was in a lot of those situations too in
positions where it was fourth down, fourth and long, fourth and medium maybe, and we went for it. I
think that’s just Coach Sirianni trusting me and the offense. Some we hit, some we didn’t but we hit
enough.”

On how comforting it is to him knowing they can win games in different ways:
“I think that’s just a testament to how we work, what we do, and I think being able to be
multidimensional as an offense having an identity of just executing. Trying to execute with consistency.
Whatever is called, that’s what we try and go out there to do. The game changes, the intent, and what
we’re trying to accomplish may change, but it’s about finding a way in every guy on the field. All eleven
doing their job.”

On what Eagles RB Miles Sanders was able to take advantage of today:
“I think Miles ran really hard today. Miles protected the ball. Everybody protected the ball. He made
plays. You see him running up the diagonal route, cutting across the field. He played angry in my
opinion. He played with a purpose this afternoon. He deserves it. He had a hell of a game.”
On what his conversation with Jaguars Head Coach Doug Pederson was like:
“I have a lot of respect for Doug as I’ve said all week. I told Doug, ‘I really appreciate you and have a lot
of respect for you.’ And I told him, ‘I thank you because you’re the reason I’m here.’ I have a lot of love
and respect for him. His way of coaching, his coaching style and the way he does things, the great things
he’s doing in Jacksonville right now. I have a lot of respect for him and I wish him nothing but the best
moving forward.”
On what he saw on the interception:
“It was a pick. A pick-six. It happens.”
On what he would do differently regarding the interception:
“Not throw a pick-six. I mean, what would you do differently?”
On what was said to rally back from a 14-0 deficit to start the game:
“I think that was the most beautiful thing right there. There was nothing needed to be said. Nothing
needed to be said. There was no come to Jesus moment. There was no come to Jesus moment. There
was, ‘Hey, we built ourselves for this. We want to have that type of mentality so let’s find out what type
of team we are.’ We answered the bell today. We answered the bell today. It’s just the beginning. We
have a long way to go. We know there were unconventional circumstances and an unconventional
environment out there with the conditions of the game. But we persevered. We found a way. This is a
step for us. We’ve taken a step from week one, to week two, to week three, to week four. It’s all about
growing and continuing the climb. Just striving to be the football team we want to be.”
On saying Jaguars Head Coach Doug Pederson is the reason he’s here:
“He drafted me. I appreciate him for that. I wouldn’t be here without him.”
On whether he had a good vantage point on Eagles LB Haason Reddick’s play at the end:
“I didn’t. I watch the big screen usually. I watched the big screen.”

On how big of a boost it was to get the ball back as much as they did from the defense:
“Like I said, the defense played a hell of a game. They played a hell of a game. I think it’s two-fold being
able to get turnovers like that in those conditions and being able to, for the most part, take the ball in

those conditions in comparison in terms of the turnover differential. I think that was big. I think our d-
line played hats off. [Eagles CB James Bradberry] caught the big-time [interception] there. For us

offensively, we want to definitely capitalize off of every opportunity we get from the defense. It’s the
same old thing, regardless of how the game goes or whatever it looks like. We enjoy our wins because we know they are not easy to come by and they’re earned, they’re earned. There is still a lot more room
for growth and we are going to continue that once the 24-hour mark hits and get ready for Arizona.”
On ball security and whether there was something extra or different he had to do today:
“For sure, for sure. I think just having the right type of technique with the ball in the end. There were
moments where it wasn’t as good as we liked. There were moments where we protected the ball really
well. I think early on, obviously, the pick-six put us in the hole but we didn’t flinch. Every time we threw
the ball after that, we ran the ball we had great ball security. We were all mindful of it. It’s a testament
to how we prepare. Where we put our hats at, where we put our heads at when we prepare. We knew it
[was going to] be a muddy day, a bad day outside in terms of the weather. And we persevered through
it. And I’m proud of this football team for being able to withstand any type of condition.”

Eagles WR A.J. Brown

On the weather during today’s game:
“Oh, it was horrible [jokingly]. It was horrible. In the third quarter, I got really cold. Really cold. I’m from
the south, so I’m still adjusting. We got rain and cold weather. You can hear it in my voice, still kind of
cold.”
On the team starting the season 4-0:
“I’m so proud of this team. We learned about each other today as a team. We went down early. Like I
said, nobody missed a beat. Nobody folded, and that’s what we needed. We needed to be tested. We’re
going to use this game as momentum and keep moving forward.”
On whether or not this win was the most important so far this season:
“Yeah, because of the conditions. [The Jaguars] are a good football team. They were playing good
football, and we both had to go through [the weather conditions]. But, we needed to face adversity. You
don’t want to be riding high and nothing has challenged you yet. Everybody can say that they’re doing it,
or they’re coming along when stuff is going [well]. We want to be tested. We want to see how it is when
your back is against the wall.”
On the play of Eagles LB Haason Reddick in today’s game:
“He was balling today. He was balling. He’s a great pickup for this team. I know he’s a hard worker with
how he comes to work and how he prepares, so I’m glad to see it all manifesting.”

Eagles C Jason Kelce
On rushing for 210-yards with the weather conditions:
“I don’t know if they are a favorable front. They are not favorable for passing. The conditions are not
favorable for anything. We have run the ball well. Obviously [Eagles QB] Jalen [Hurts] gets us a lot of
advantageous looks. They are a good front. I am really happy with how we did. We ran for a lot of yards,

but we also ran the ball a lot. I would be curious to see what the efficiency is and what the yards-per-
carry ends up being. All in all, it was a grinder of a game. We talked about it all week about perseverance and keeping your head down, keep moving forward, and get your job done each play. Obviously, we
started the game down 14 points and to come back and end up winning the game. That was a really
good team win. Not pretty, but a good team win.”
On whether it was something schematically that changed the run game or to just stick with the plan:
“I think both. We started out the last few games really hot and it cooled off in the second half. This
game, we started off pretty slow in the first quarter and got going in the second quarter. Definitely some
schematics, but also just blocking better. Frankly, that ends up being the ebb and flow of the game. If
stuff is not working, you are going to make adjustments and try and fix things, then all of a sudden
you’re going to get something going. Usually when you start off a game cold, you end up getting better
as the game goes because you are figuring things out. When you start things off really well, you’re just
going to keep doing that and the defense adjusts and then you cool off. Those are the ebbs and flows of
the game and I thought we handled it really well. Guys battled.”
On how miserable the weather was:
“It was a train wreck. Especially for snapping the ball, I was very anxious every time I grabbed the ball
today. I think we only had one major snap issue. Outside of that, with things considered, I am pretty
happy with it.”
On running the ball more starting with the second touchdown drive:
“With the second touchdown drive, we were getting some really good runs and advantageous looks and
taking advantage of it. As we were running the ball, we started loading up the box and making it
difficult. I think we did a good job of sticking with it even though they were making it harder for sure.”

Eagles RB Miles Sanders
On how the weather caused a shift in the team’s offensive play:
“Whatever the weather conditions are, we practice in this type of stuff. We do everything we can to be
prepared for this type of stuff. Obviously, we’re still going to pass the ball like we did today, but with the
offensive line that we have, we’re going to lean on them. Over 200-yards rushing – that’s a day.”
On reaching a career high in rushing yards and carries:
“Yes, absolutely. Definitely getting in the groove – my job is to be ready whenever they call my number.
Whenever they call my number, I’m going to be ready, regardless. With the weather being the way it
was, we leaned on our offensive line, and our offensive line had a heck of a game.”
On overcoming the injuries sustained by the Eagles offensive line:
“We have a mentality – it’s a next-man-up mentality. And we have probably one of the best offensive
line coaching in the league coaching these guys. So whoever’s next man up is going to produce in there,
no matter who is in there.”
On the increase in confidence after winning the first four games: “It gives everybody confidence. It’s a team sport, and we know we can’t win without all aspects of the
game. Special teams played a heck of a game – [Eagles K] Jake Elliott took one for the team and still
went back out there and kicked the field goal to get us in the lead. Then our defense playing the way
they did after those two scores they got quickly, one was by us and then we pretty much shut them out
the whole game, creating five turnovers. And then, with the weather being the way it is, we still passed
the ball effectively. And the offensive line, we had over 200 yards rushing. So all over, if the team keeps
doing that, we’re going to win a lot of games.”
On what it means to him to be 4-0:
“It’s exciting – I’m excited as heck. I’ve never been 2-0, never been 3-0 here. But the best thing about
being 4-0 is being able to be 5-0. We’re just going to go back to watch film from this game to see what
we can get better at, and then on to the next.”

Eagles DT Fletcher Cox

On whether forcing five turnovers is a big deal:
“Absolutely. We had a lot of sacks last week. A lot of turnovers this week. We just have to continue to
build. Obviously with a rainy game, there’s a lot that goes into that mentally where you are at. I think
everybody came out ready to run.”
On whether he thinks this is Eagles LB Haason Reddick’s coming out party:
“Absolutely. He talked about it all week. I was so happy seeing him fly around. Really happy. He talked
about it all week at his walk-throughs at practice and any meeting that we had a chance to talk that he
was just going to be himself.”
On playing through the rainy weather:
“It could have gotten to you mentally. The message to the guys on the O-line and D-line was the time
was now. Let’s not wait. That got guys fired up and I don’t think the rain really was a factor. It sucked
standing on the sideline with the rain, cold, and wind blowing, but it was fun.”
On the last time he was 4-0 and the feeling of it:
“Never. I don’t think I was ever 4-0. It feels good. The best thing about being 4-0 is that now we have to
try and go 5-0. The more you get a target on your back. Everybody else is now playing an undefeated
team and they will be juiced up to play. The biggest thing right now is to continue to build each and
every week, hold each other accountable, and go out and play as a team.”

Eagles DE Brandon Graham

On what the team is doing differently at 4-0 that they weren’t doing before that:
“I think it’s credit to coaching the details. We go over so much stuff over and over and over, and it’s
showing up in a great way. Even when we went down 14 we just knew that we didn’t even get started yet so let’s pick it up. I felt that everyone had the mindset that if we were to make a stop right here then
we’re about to go. The offense settled down and [Eagles QB Jalen Hurts] led the way and we just made
sure we had his back, especially in the second half.”
On the last time he was 4-0:
“It’s been 3-1 that’s about it. But 4-0, it’s been a minute. It’s a new day and I think that we all are feeling
great right now and we’re going to enjoy this win. But, we know we’re nowhere near close to where we
want to be. Because, like I said, you have to make sure that you begin peaking at the right time. I’m
loving that we’re starting fast and hopefully we can continue to keep going all the way staying perfect.”
On how it makes him feel seeing five turnovers on the other teams’ stat sheet:
“I feel like it’s mission accomplished. We put the offense into great field position and I think that’s what
you want. You want to turn the ball over because it’s definitely a blow to their team. The momentum
shifts in crucial parts of the game. Especially when we needed a play, when we were up 20-14, [Eagles
DE Haason Reddick] comes through. From there, we just kept stacking them turnovers. And they are
very big in games like this.”

Eagles LB Haason Reddick

On his ability to force fumbles:
“First is just taking drill work to the game. We practice it. [Eagles Linebackers] Coach [Nick] Rallis and
[Eagles Defensive Line Coach Tracy Rocker], they both harp on it. So, just taking what I’m coached to do.
What we do at practice, and then just taking it into the game.”
On how the Eagles defense is coming together, especially after the team went down 14-0 early in the
game:
“We are [coming together], and we’ve still got some ways to go. We know that. Right now, our thing is
just getting better each week, and so far we have been doing that. We’ve got to continue to harp on the
details and continue to hold everybody accountable, so that way we can rally back in games like this. We
were on the sidelines saying, ‘there’s a lot of ball left.’ We knew the game was far from over, and we
just decided to go out there, work and do our best to dominate the men that were in front of us.”
On what battling back from a 14-0 deficit shows about the Eagles team as a whole:
“It just shows who we are. [The Jaguars] got up on us early. Nobody waivered, though. Nobody flinched.
‘Everybody, let’s go.’ Let’s keep going. We’ve got them, and that’s exactly what we did. We kept our
heads down and continued to work. Played ourselves back into the game, took the lead and got the ‘W’
today.”
On his comfort level in the Eagles defense:
“I’ve been comfortable. I’ve been comfortable. I’m not going to say that I’ve preached it, but I’ve said it
many times: [Eagles Defensive Coordinator Jonathan Gannon] always asks me what I’m comfortable
with and what I’m not comfortable with. So, it’s never like I’m going out there and I’m not comfortable with something. I know exactly what I’m asked to do. If I’m uncomfortable with something, I have no
problem letting [Jonathan Gannon] know. But anything you see me doing out there on the field, I’m
comfortable with. I’ve talked to [Jonathan Gannon] about it. We know what the goal is. It’s just up to me
now to go out there and execute it at a high level.”

Jaguars Head Coach Doug Pederson
On how the conditions affected Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence and the offense:
“I think it affected him a little bit. Obviously we can’t turn the ball over five times like we did and expect
good things to happen. We’re going to be in games like this where the conditions aren’t going to be
favorable. We just have to do our part to hang on to the ball.”
On losing the lead after starting 14-0 in the first quarter:
“We talk about it all the time. We just have to focus on us. Anytime you make the mistakes we did, turn
the ball over like we did, and where we turned the ball over, you’re not going to keep good teams out of
the end zone. That’s really the difference in the football game. I’m proud of our guys. They fought there
until the end to give us a chance to at least see what was going to happen there at the end of the game.
It’s just the turnovers and mental errors that really cost us today.”
On what it was like to be back in Philadelphia:
“It was great. It was a great crowd. A great welcome. It was good.”
On whether there was anyone that he didn’t get a chance to talk to before the game:
“It was my normal routine, just seeing guys. At the end of the day I have a job to do and get the Jags
ready to play. It was good to see a lot of people. When you spend as much time here as we did, do the
things we did, it was good to see a lot of people.”
On whether being in the stadium brought back any memories:
“Once the game started, no. It’s just a fact that you’re looking with a little different perspective on the
other sideline. Obviously I spent a lot of time in that stadium. The fans were great today as expected.
Just unfortunate for us.”
On what learning experience Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence needs to take away from today:
“I think short-term memory, number one. We have to fix those mistakes with him. Correct him, show it,
keep teaching him. He’s going to be better for it. We’ll be better for it obviously down the road. He’s
great about fixing things and being a pro about it. That’s what we expect and he will do that.”
On Jaguars RB James Robinson’s low number of rush attempts this game:
“We just didn’t have enough touches. Turnovers, you just don’t have enough touches. You’re trying to
get the ball to this guy and that guy and stick to your plan. You just can’t turn the ball over like we did.
You just don’t get enough opportunities.”

On how the dropped passes on first-down got them out of their rhythm:
“It’s hard. Again we can’t, as much as we try, we can’t let the elements affect what we do. You might
have to modify some things, but you really have to stick to your plan and do the things that we’ve been
able to have success with the last couple of weeks.”

On whether it was frustrating for the Eagles to run the ball well when they needed to:
“That’s a good offensive line. We know all those guys and know how they’re coached. They’re well
coached. That’s what they pride themselves on. We have to be better on the defensive side. We have to
stay in gaps and somehow try to slow down the rush as best we can. That’s how you win games at the
end. When you have the lead, you just run behind the offensive line. As long as you make first downs
and stay on the field, you have a chance to win the game.”
On the incomplete pass to Jaguars WR Jamal Agnew in the beginning of the second quarter:
“Those are obvious plays. We have to convert. We have to make those. When you have guys open like
that, just do the best we can to execute those plays. Again on the flip side of it, staying disciplined in our
rush lanes and trying to get the ball on the ground.”
On whether he has a good feel for this football team yet:
“I think I have a great feel for this football team. The guys are mad and they’re a little bit ticked off. And
they should be. They should hate losing more than they enjoy winning. That’s what I told them after the
game. Twenty-four hours, we will get in the film room tomorrow and look at it. Fix it, make the
corrections, and move on. That’s a good group of men in there and they hurt just like I do. They want it
just like I do. We’ll get it fixed.”
On whether the weather played a part in ruling Jaguars WR Zay Jones out for the game:
“I think it was more him physically. He tried to run on it pregame and it was sort of a game time
decision. I’m a big believer if a player isn’t feeling it mentally, you just don’t want to risk it. You don’t
want to put him out there in the elements. It’s only week four. There’s a lot of football ahead of us still. I
just didn’t want to put him in a situation that could set him back. Hopefully we will get him back this
week.”
On whether there is an update on Jaguars DE Folorunso Fatukasi:
“I don’t [have one] yet. Some of the injuries we have, I have to check with our docs here when I get
done. And I’ll probably have a better update tomorrow.”
On how tough it is to not have Jaguars DE Folorunso Fatukasi on the field for crucial plays:
“Yeah, he’s a big part of the run defense obviously and pushes the pocket. It just makes you a little bit
thin. But I thought the guys around him stepped up, did a nice job. But we will see where he’s at, try to
get him healthy for next week.”
On talking to Eagles QB Jalen Hurts after the game:
“I just told him I was proud of him. I wished him well the rest of the season. And, you know, just how
he’s really turned into the leader that we all thought he was going to be, and is. And I just wanted him to
know that.”

On whether they practiced in the rain this week:
“We were in the rain a little bit on Wednesday. Thursday it rained kind of like this but we were inside,
indoors, down there in Jacksonville. And then Friday it was beautiful. We missed the bulk of the storm, it
stayed south and east of us. We got lucky there. So yeah we practiced one day in the rain.”

On whether he likes to practice with a wet ball deliberately knowing the conditions will be bad:
“Yeah we do, I mean we do. Especially if we have multiple dry games in a row and we know there’s
some weather coming in, we try to do that. But listen, we live in Florida and it rains quite a bit down
there. Even if we do practice and there is a little bit of rain, we are going to go outside and practice in
the elements if we can.”
On the fumbled snap at the end of the game and if he could tell whether it was more on C Luke
Fortner or QB Trevor Lawrence:
“It was hard to tell on the screen replay. It looked like it was just a dropped snap. Something that
obviously can’t happen in those situations and we have to clean that up.”
On whether he thought QB Trevor Lawrence held the ball a little too long on the last play:
“It’s hard to tell until honestly we look at the film and see what other options he might have at that
time. Just knowing that you have to keep two hands on the football and try to hang onto it.”
On being a former quarterback and whether he felt he had to calm QB Trevor Lawrence down after
the game:
“I mean, we talked even during the game. Told him we just have to keep fighting, keep pushing and
plugging away. Listen, he understands, he knows. He’s a professional. It’s just something we have to
continue to work on with him and with everybody, with everybody that touches the football. We’re
going to be good, we’re going to be okay, you know we’ll be fine. We will learn from this and make the
necessary corrections.”

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence

On how turnovers affected the team’s momentum:
“I would start by saying I have to play better. Our defense gave us a chance to win it at the end of the
game. I’m just pissed I let those guys down and just had too many turnovers. Obviously it starts with me.
All of them were me today so no one else to blame there. To let those guys down it’s disappointing, it
felt like we had a chance to win that game and we did and the same thing at the end there. That’s really
frustrating, we really felt like we started to click and get some drives going. Down there in the redzone
early in the second half and had the interception which was obviously a big shift in momentum. At the
end we were able to score in a minute there, the second to last drive and get us back in the game.
Defense had a huge stop on fourth down and then same thing. First play in the pocket guy gets his hand
on it. I’ve just got to take better care of the ball, got to tuck it. There’s going to be things to learn from
and obviously just really disappointed right now.”
On how [Jaguars WR] Jamal Agnew stepped up for the team: “He played great. That’s a guy that can really do a lot of things for us and he did it last year, too. I’m
pretty familiar with how he plays, the things he can do, the different positions we can put him in and use
him. He did a great job stepping up. I think, what two touchdowns on the day? He had some big catches
and played great. He was ready to roll and that’s all you can ask.”
On whether he’s played games in similar weather conditions:
“Not really. It rains a ton obviously in Florida. Today it was the wind and everything, it was pretty brutal.
At the end of the day no excuses we’re both playing in it. Like I said just really frustrated right now.
Excited to watch the tape and it’s going to be brutal just to watch it and all the missed opportunities and
things that we had. I mean with four turnovers and to still have a chance to go with the game at the end
it doesn’t usually happen. It shows we played well in other areas. We’ve got to clean that up and we will
and I’m confident in that. It definitely sucks right now.”
On how difficult it is for him to process the loss:
“It’s not fun. Obviously it’s more frustrating when you personally didn’t play well and had a lot of
opportunities and just didn’t take advantage of it. Turned the ball over way too much. Not really going
to win any games turning it over five times. It’s really frustrating, really disappointing but we’ve got to
have a short memory just like we do when we win. When we play well, the same thing. When we don’t
play well, when I don’t play well, when we lose a game whatever it is. 24 hour rule we got to watch this
tape, learn from it and move on to the Texans next week.”
On overthrowing WR Jamal Agnew on a deep pass early in the game:
“I had a little bit of pressure, so I had to get it out a little quicker than I wanted to. With the elements
the way they were, I really didn’t want to hang the ball up too much and give the safety a chance to get
it. So I tried to put it somewhere where only he could get it, and I overthrew it a little bit. He did a good
job of beating his guy, and that’s one that we obviously want to hit. But it’s all good.”

On the Jaguars struggling to run the ball offensively:
“I just think the way some of those series went, we were behind the sticks a lot, whether it was an
incompletion or a miscue on first down. We were in a lot of second-and-longs, and third-and-longs, early
in the game and even coming out after halftime. Whatever it was, I couldn’t tell you everything right
now, because I have to go back and watch it and really talk to the coaches. We didn’t stay on schedule
like we have the last two weeks, and that hurt us. I think it really comes down to turnovers at the end of
the day. Taking all of that stuff under consideration, we still had a chance to win and we put together
some great drives. We just have to finish and we can’t turn the ball over.”
On the fumbled snap during a fourth down quarterback sneak:
“I have to secure it. Obviously it’s pouring at that point, I’m going under center, and everyone is pushing
and trying to get that one yard. Those are the situations where you really have to secure it. That’s the
main thing, but you get a little bit ahead of yourself and you’re straining to get that one yard, and that’s
when you see some mishaps with catching the snap. The communication was good, it was just on me. I
can’t go back to that moment and think about where my hands were, because I’m not thinking about
that in that moment. At the end of the day, [Jaguars C] Luke [Fortner] does a great job. He’s consistent, we’ve never had issues, I’ve never had issues there, and that’s just one that we missed. That’s on me
and we have to learn from it and get better.”
On whether his confidence ever wavered following the offensive turnovers:
“Not really. The back and forth and ebbs and flows of the game, I actually think we managed them well
except for the turnover there at the end. After all that had happened, we’re down two scores on the
second to the last drive, and we go and score in 1:30. We get a 68-yard drive that gets us back in the
game, so I had all of the confidence there. I think everyone did. We had a chance to go win it, but it was
the same thing in terms of another turnover. I never really lost confidence, but like I said, you can’t win
a game doing that.”
On the team having a chance at the end despite the earlier turnovers:
“It says a lot in terms of what this team is made of. We have a lot of competitors and guys that don’t
quit. Everyone believed the whole game. For our defense, I’m sure it’s frustrating for them when
offensively you turn the ball over that many times. They just kept going back out there and they had a
lot of big stops. Defensively we played good enough to win the game, so that’s why it’s disappointing
that we let those guys down. We’re going to learn from it, we’re going to get better, and I know that this
is a really good football team that we have here. We’re just going to put it together next week.”

Jaguars WR Jamal Agnew

On the team’s performance today:
“We came out and scored. We’ve just got to finish. I feel like we hurt ourselves a lot today. Credits to
them, they’re a great team but we’re also a great team. But you can’t win if you keep beating yourself.
We’ve just got to get back to the drawing board. We’re a close-knit group so we’re going to clean it up.”
On stepping up with WR Zay Jones out:
“I mean, just next man up mentality. It doesn’t matter who’s out. We’re going to go out there and make
plays. Unfortunately, we didn’t make enough.”
On the weather conditions during today’s game:
“It’s tough. It was definitely tough. Rain is actually a big deal, but you know, when it’s windy like that,
too. But you can’t control the weather though. We’ve just got to go out there and handle what we’re
dealt. They’re playing in the same conditions too, so it doesn’t matter at the end of the day. Like I said,
we just hurt ourselves too much today.”
On how the team will respond after today’s performance:
“Oh, we’re going to respond. There’s no doubt about that. Like I said, we’re a close group. We know
what we need to clean up. The encouraging part about it is we turned the ball over five or six times, and
we still had a chance to win the game. That’s credit to the defense for getting big stops, but we’ve just
got to get out there and make more plays.”

Jaguars WR Christian Kirk
On why the Jaguars’ momentum shifted after the first quarter:
“I think number one, turnovers. Turnovers hurt. And all the stuff we predicate ourselves on, standing in
front of the chains, penalties, converting on third down – we just didn’t do it. You don’t want to blame it
on conditions. We expect to go out and play our best ball regardless. It’s a tough one, that’s a good
football team. So, we definitely are going to be critical of ourselves and look to next week.”
On the weather conditions today:
“It was hard. The wind gets to blowing, we’re all soaking wet, it was cold. But like I said, for us, I know
for me personally, it’s not an excuse and try not to use that as an excuse. But it’s a good learning
experience for us and this will definitely add some fuel to the fire.”
On what he saw from the Eagles’ defense today:
“Like I said, that’s a good defense. They’re one of the best teams in the NFC, they’re undefeated for a
reason. And for that sake, we can’t go out there and play how we did. You’re just not going to beat good
teams like that. And so, for us offensively, we have to be better on cue, not turning the ball over, and
just everybody be embodying what we’re trying to do. So, like I said, we’re going to go and be critical of
ourselves and try to bounce back.”
On whether the team paid any attention to the national media they received this past week:
“For us, I don’t think we paid any attention to it. We feel like the underdog always and we’re always
going to be the underdog. And we’re just going to keep fighting to prove to ourselves that we can be the
team that we know we can be. When we’re at our best, we feel like we can play with anybody. So, like I
said, we’re going to take this loss and take this thing that we kind of have in the locker room right now
and use it until next week.”
