Philadelphia Eagles At Miami Dolphins : Postgame Notes

• Trailing 28-14 in the third quarter, Miami overcame a 14-point second-half deficit to defeat the Eagles 37-31 today. It was Miami’s largest comeback victory since a 14-point come-from-behind win vs. the N.Y. Jets on Oct. 22, 2017.

• This is Miami’s first home victory over Philadelphia since Oct. 24, 1999. The Eagles had won the last two meetings played at Hard Rock Stadium but the Dolphins now own a 6-2 edge in the all-time series in Miami.

• The Dolphins are now 9-6 all-time against the Eagles, regardless of location.

• Miami has now won 19 of its past 31 games played at Hard Rock Stadium. It’s the team’s best 31-game home stretch since going 20-11 from Dec. 2, 2001 to Sept. 25, 2005.

• This marks the second consecutive year that QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has won a start against Philadelphia. He defeated the Eagles 27-21 in Week 2 last year with Tampa Bay. PARKER HAS CAREER DAY

• WR DeVante Parker had a career-high 159 receiving yards on seven receptions (22.7 avg.) and two touchdowns today, the most receiving yards of his five-year NFL career.

• Parker’s totals today brought him to 53 receptions for 854 yards (16.1 avg.) and six touchdowns on the season. His receiving yards and touchdown receptions are career highs while he is just four receptions shy of his career high of 57 set in 2017.

• At the end of today’s 1 p.m. games, Parker’s 854 receiving yards are 13th in the NFL and fourth in the AFC this season. His six touchdown receptions are tied for eighth in the NFL and tied for third in the AFC.

• With four games to play, Parker is on pace to record 71 receptions for 1,139 yards (16.1 avg.) and eight touchdowns. It would be the most receiving yards by a Dolphins player since WR Jarvis Landry had 1,157 in 2015.

• Since returning from the bye in Week 6, Parker has 43 receptions for 653 yards (15.2 avg.) and five touchdowns. At the end of the 1 p.m. games, his 653 receiving yards in that span lead the AFC and are fourth in the NFL. His 43 receptions are tied for eighth in the league and his five receiving touchdowns are tied for second.

• Parker’s 159 receiving yards today were tied for the 20th-most in an NFL game this season and the most ever by a Dolphins player in a game against the Eagles.

• Parker’s 92 receiving yards in the first half were the most in a half of his career.

• Parker got the Dolphins on the board in the first quarter with a 43-yard touchdown reception from QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. He skied over Eagles CB Ronald Darby to make the grab and then tiptoed down the sideline into the end zone.

• The 43-yard touchdown reception was the second-longest touchdown catch of Parker’s career and the longest touchdown pass by the Dolphins this season.

• His second touchdown was a 17-yard pass from Fitzpatrick in the third quarter. With the Dolphins trailing 28-14 at the time, it sparked a 14-point comeback win for the team.

• Miami’s 37 points today were the most the team scored since they scored 44 in a 44-26 win vs. Houston on Oct. 25, 2015. It was tied for the second-most allowed by Philadelphia this season. It’s also the most the Dolphins have ever scored against the Eagles.

• During a span in the middle of the game, the Dolphins scored touchdowns on five consecutive drives (not counting a kneel down to end the first half) and scored on six straight possessions after kicking a field goal to make it a two possession game in the fourth quarter.

• The Dolphins had 409 yards of total offense and 351 net passing yards today.

• It was Miami’s most yards of total offense since putting up 412 vs. New England on Dec. 9, 2018. It was their most net passing yards since having 380 on Oct. 14, 2018 vs. Chicago.

• The 351 net passing yards and 409 yards of total offense were the third-most allowed by the Eagles this season.

• The 68 total points scored by both teams today are the most in series history.

• The Dolphins’ four passing touchdowns today are tied for the most allowed by the Eagles defense this season. HAACK TO SANDERS IN MEMORABLE TOUCHDOWN

• Facing fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line in the second quarter, P Matt Haack threw a touchdown to pass to K Jason Sanders to give the Dolphins a 14-13 lead.

• According to Elias Sports Bureau, the last time a player with the most punts on his team and a player with the most XP/FGA on his team combined on a TD pass was the San Diego Chargers on Dec. 6, 1964. John Hadl was the team’s primary QB but he also was the punter. Keith Lincoln was also a RB that season.

• According to the NFL, Sanders is the first kicker to score a receiving touchdown since Denver’s Jim Turner on Oct. 16, 1977.

• Haack’s pass made him the first punter in Dolphins history to throw a touchdown pass and the first one in the NFL since Chicago’s Pat O’Donnell threw a 38-yard touchdown pass on Oct. 9, 2017 vs. Minnesota.

• The touchdown pass was the first of Haack’s career and the touchdown reception was the first of Sanders’ career. FITZPATRICK THROWS FOR 365 YARDS IN WIN

• QB Ryan Fitzpatrick posted the 19th 300-yard passing game of his career today, throwing for 365 yards and three touchdowns. It’s the second time in the past three games that Fitzpatrick has thrown for 300-plus yards.

• Fitzpatrick helped author a 14-point second-half comeback. It marked the 11th fourth-quarter comeback win of his career.

• Trailing by two points entering the fourth quarter, Fitzpatrick authored a nine-play, 96-yard drive capped off by a 4- yard touchdown run by RB Patrick Laird to give the Dolphins the lead. It was the 15th game-winning drive of Fitzpatrick’s career.

• Fitzpatrick’s 365 passing yards today were the 10th -most of his 152-game career.

• TE Mike Gesicki caught five passes for 79 yards (15.8 avg.) and one touchdown. It was his second touchdown in as many games after he had his first career touchdown reception last week at Cleveland.

• Gesicki’s 79 receiving yards were the second-most in his career.

• Gesicki now has 36 receptions for 401 yards (11.1 avg.) and two touchdowns. His 401 receiving yards are fifth among AFC tight ends and 13th among NFL tight ends.

• He has 30 receptions for 350 yards (11.7 avg.) and two receptions since the team returned from the bye in Week 6. At the end of the 1 p.m. games, his 350 receiving yards were seventh among NFL tight ends in that span while the 30 receptions were tied for seventh.

• DT Davon Godchaux recorded five tackles (two solo) today. He has 54 tackles (25 solo) this season, third-most in the NFL among defensive tackles at the end of today’s 1 p.m. games. It’s the sixth game this season Godchaux has totaled at least five tackles.
