PANTHERS POSTGAME QUOTES

Forward Jonathan Huberdeau

On Anthony Duclair reaching the 30-goal mark:
“He has been having a good year, a lot of guys have been having a good year. For him, I am really happy. He is playing really well right now…and tonight he got rewarded. I thought he was going to get the [hat trick] in overtime, which would have been nice. I am really happy for him. A lot of guys are getting milestones, so it’s cool.

On playing with this Panthers team:
“We put in the work, but we are having fun at the same time. That’s what it’s all about. Obviously, we are getting a lot of milestones, a lot of goals, but the priority is to play well defensively, feel good about our game and go to the playoffs.”

Forward Anthony Duclair

On joining the 30-goal club for the first time in his career:
“Awesome feeling, obviously credit goes to my teammates and coaching staff for putting myself in the situation to play with some really good players, elite players. It is something I am not going to take for granted. It has been a great fit since I got here so I am really excited about it, and I am really happy.”

On team confidence:
“I think we are maturing. We think about all the comebacks this year and we want to stay cool and composed. I think when you are staying patient and you keep doing the little things, it adds up and teams start to break down there. We trust in ourselves and trust we can come back in any game and did that again tonight.”

Interim Head Coach Andrew Brunette

On the resilience of this Panthers team:
“Yeah, I think it just shows the maturity of this group and that we believe in ourselves. We believe that if we do the right things continuously and stay within our game plan and the way we play, good things kind of follow. I think we said that the other night, too, in the Buffalo game. We didn’t really try to change things or cheat our way or [make] high risk plays. We just stayed with what we were doing, stayed with the program, and got rewarded for it on the power play.”

On Jonathan Huberdeau’s effort in tonight’s win:
“Oh, he was unbelievable. He was so much fun to watch tonight. He had the puck on a string. He created so much. It’s almost a shame he only got one point out of it because I know he’s in the scoring race; he deserved about five or six tonight. It’s night after night—he just continues to amaze you. It’s kind of a shame he hasn’t been talked enough about in the Hart Trophy [conversation]. I think anybody who would’ve watched us tonight—and watched us all year—but even just one game and seen what he does… It’s a shame he’s not talked about like these other guys. He’s a pretty great player on a pretty great team right now, so he should have a little more recognition.”
