BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University baseball team embarks on a new season on Friday night. Year 15 under head coach John McCormack begins with a weekend visit from Monmouth University (N.J.).
The Owls have a reloaded lineup highlighted by C-USA Preseason Player of the Year Nolan Schanuel. The third-year slugger was named as Preseason All-American by five different major publications.
The majority of the Owls’ everyday lineup from 2022 is back including outfielder Dylan Goldstein, third baseman Jackson Ross, and shortstop Armando Albert. New additions include centerfielder Spencer Rich, infielder Christian Adams, and catcher Andrew Hernandez.
The FAU pitching will once again be led by graduate senior captain Hunter Cooley. Last year’s saves leader Robert Wegielnik returns to anchor the bullpen along with lefties Max Martzolf and Sam Drumheller. The Owls have also added hard-throwing righty C.J. Williams to contribute in the late innings.
WEEKEND PROMOTIONS
This weekend’s giveaway, the 2023 schedule poster, will be available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday while supplies last.
