Owls Set for Big Ten Battle at Nebraska

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Owls (3-2) will close out their second road trip of the year this week as they head to Lincoln, Nebraska for a B1G time matchup against the Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-2). Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET inside Pinnacle Bank Arena and on Big Ten Plus.

A LOOK AT THE OWLS

  • The Owls enter Wednesday’s contest with a 3-2 record this season, earning wins against North Florida (84-75), Chicago State (80-57), and Stetson (50-39).
  • As a team, the Owls rank second in the AAC in free throw attempts per game (23.2), third in field goal percentage defense (.342), fourth in fewest fouls per game (17.4), and fifth in rebounds per game (40.2) and scoring defense (59.6).
  • Offensively, the Owls are led by sophomore guard Aniya Hubbard, who ranks fourth in the AAC, averaging an impressive 20.2 points per game, shooting 47 percent from the field, 31 percent from 3-point range, and 72 percent from the line. She also leads the Owls in steals, grabbing 10 through four games, and has averaged 6.6 rebounds per contest.
  • Jada Moore, and Janeta Rozentale have also averaged double-figures for the Owls this season, scoring 12.3 and 11.0 points per game, respectively.
  • Rozentale leads the Owls on the glass, pulling down a team-leading 8.4 rebounds per game. She also recorded the Owls’ sole double-double of the young season, pulling down a season-high 13 rebounds vs. Chicago State.
  • The Owls assists leader is Devyn Scott, who has dished out a team-best 14 assists, averaging 2.8 per game this season.

A LOOK AT NEBRASKA

  • Nebraska enters Wednesday’s matchup at 4-2 overall and are just coming off a split weekend at the St. Pete Showcase, defeating Lamar 75-61 but falling 88-81 to TCU.
  • The Cornhuskers have four players averaging double-figures, led by Alexis Markowski, who is averaging 17.3 points per game, followed by Jaz Shelley and Natalie Potts, who are averaging 12.7 points per game, and Darian White, who rounds out the list for Nebraska, with 11.2 points per game.
  • Shelley is Nebraska’s assists and steals leader, dishing out 3.2 assists per game and grabbing 1.8 steals per contest.
  • Markowski also leads the Cornhuskers on the boards, pulling down a team-best 9.0 rebounds per contest. White ranks second on the team averaging 7.3 rebounds per game.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Owls are 0-2 all-time against the Cornhuskers and 0-1 in Lincoln. Florida Atlantic fell in an 86-69 battle during the last meeting between the two programs on Dec. 19, 2017, in Lincoln.
