Owls Ranked No. 25 in the AP Top 25

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University’s men’s basketball team (11-4) remains in the Associated Press Top 25 for the 10th straight week, coming in at No. 24 in the latest AP poll as announced on Monday afternoon.

Florida Atlantic also enters the week at No. 26 in the NCAA’s latest NET ranking, which is one of the key tools used by the NCAA Tournament committee in selecting the tournament field. The Owls are the American Athletic Conference’s only team inside the top 30 of the NET. Of the teams inside the top 30, only Purdue, Tennessee, Connecticut, and Wisconsin have more Quad 1 and 2 wins than FAU’s 5-2 mark.

The Owls’ inaugural AAC campaign is underway, with FAU taking down ECU, 79-64, on Jan. 2 and coming up just short against Charlotte, 70-68 on Saturday, Jan. 6.

Junior guard Johnell Davis led the way, contributing 40 total points, 10 rebounds, and four steals in the past two games. In the victory against ECU, junior guard Alijah Martin added 20 points of his own with junior center Vlad Goldin recording his fourth double-double of the season.

Over the course of the season, the Owls are averaging 86.5 points per game in their victories, which would rank 10th in the nation. They rank 22nd in field goal percentage (49.6%) and effective field goal percentage (56.5%).
