Owls Held in Check by FGCU

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University baseball team dropped the final midweek contest of the season to Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday night by a 7-2 final.
THE BEGINNINGThe Owls jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the top of the third when Dylan Goldstein singled to right with the bases loaded. FGCU responded by tying it in the bottom of the frame.
THE TURNING POINTIt was still tied in the fifth when FAU put runners at first and second with one out. A fly out and a strikeout, however, ended the threat.

In the ensuing half inning, the Eagles racked up two singles and a double to take a 4-2 lead. They would add two more in the sixth and cap it off with a solo home run in the seventh.
THE FINISHThe FAU offense was held in check for the final seven innings. FGCU relievers Nick Love and Mason Miller combined to hold the Owls to four hits.
