Owls Fall to Clemson

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University football team fell to Clemson 48-14 on Saturday evening.

“I know the scoreboard is awful and the way we looked for a lot of the first half was awful and our guys responded for the most part. We are going to really do a good job of accentuating and promoting the guys that upheld our standard and our culture regardless of the scoreboard and also make sure we point out the guys that did not.”

OFFENSE

  • With his first catch of the game in the first quarter, Junior WR LaJohntay Wester became Florida Atlantic’s all-time leader in receptions with 163. Wester was all over the field throughout, catching 12 passes thrown his way for 108 yards. It was his first time ever recording 10+ catches in his collegiate career
  • QB Michael Johnson Jr. scored his first touchdown as an Owl on a 2-yard run
  • The highlight of the night came on the last offensive play, when QB Daniel Richardson handed it off to Redshirt junior QB-turned-WR Javion Posey, who in turn threw a 33-yard bomb to Devin Price for the touchdown
  • Graduate RB Kobe Lewis rushed for 49 yards with a long of 16

DEFENSE

  • LB Jackson Ambush logged a game-high eight tackles
  • Graduate Safety Jarron Morris continued his strong start to the season with two pass breakups to go along with his six tackles
  • Redshirt Junior Safety Dwight Toombs made seven tackles

SPECIAL TEAMS

  • Lewis and Posey both had a strong kickoff return with 27 and 25 yards, respectively
