Oakland Park honors students

From David Volz

The City of Oakland Park recognized outstanding students through the Student of the Quarter initiative, a program led by the School Advisory Board to honor students who exemplify excellence in attitude, attendance, and academics.

Each quarter, Oakland Park schools nominate a student who stands out for their dedication and hard work, and these exceptional individuals are recognized at a City Commission meeting.

For this quarter, the City honored five remarkable students who have demonstrated commitment and excellence in their academic journeys:

Shaila Reyna Jimenez – 5th Grade, Oakland Park Elementary School

Ava Rohrer – 5th Grade, North Andrews Gardens Elementary School

Juan Razo – 5th Grade, Lloyd Estates Elementary School

Dylan Chinchilla – 8th Grade, Rickards Middle School

Maria Forner Ibanez – 8th Grade, St. Mark’s Episcopal School

These students have shown exceptional dedication to their education, inspiring their peers and making their schools proud. Their positive attitudes, strong attendance, and academic excellence are a testament to their hard work and perseverance.

Recently the City hosted its annual Tree Giveaway at Jaco Pastorius Park, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and neighborhood beautification. More than 250 residents and business owners participated, receiving 700 free trees and plants to help expand the City’s urban tree canopy and green their properties. The event supports Oakland Park’s long-term goal of enhancing its natural environment while engaging the community in hands-on conservation.
