The City of Oakland Park has received funding for various improvements.
The City announced it will receive $300,000 for infrastructure improvements as part of the 2022 federal spending bill. The award will be used to further the City’s sustainability and resiliency goals by lining wastewater pipes to reduce the inflow of groundwater into the city’s sanitary sewer system. These improvements help lower the wear and tear on the sewer system and save operational and maintenance costs. The funding is part of a $900,000 investment for water quality improvement projects in Oakland Park, Wilton Manors, and Fort Lauderdale aimed at preserving local wastewater infrastructure and protecting natural resources like the Middle River.
