Oakland Park has new projects

From David Volz

Oakland Park is growing in exciting way, with new projects underway to improve  parks, streets, and public spaces. These upgrades are about building a stronger, safer, and more connected community for everyone. With over $130 million invested in improvements over the past five years, the City is delivering progress you can see—one project at a time.

Next up: two major park projects west of Dixie Highway. Construction will begin Monday, January 5, 2026, at Veterans Park and Stevens Field, bringing meaningful improvements that expand recreation, enhance safety, and make everyday park visits more comfortable and accessible. From improved lighting and walkable paths to new amenities and gathering spaces, these upgrades are designed to help residents move more, stay longer, and enjoy their neighborhood parks in new and enhanced ways.

Oakland Park is offering a citywide Yard Sale. It’s a great opportunity to browse items from more than 40+ sellers all in one place at the same time! The City is partnering with the Oakland Park Kiwanis to host the event on Saturday, January 10th, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jaco Pastorius Park, located at 4000 North Dixie Highway. Free event parking will be located on Main Street/NE 12th Avenue, south of NE 38th Street.
