TALLAHASSEE – Undefeated Florida State remained No. 4 in the updated College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday night.
Florida State improved to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in the ACC and clinched a spot in the ACC Championship Game with a win Saturday at Pitt. FSU held Pitt to 15 completions on 36 attempts, the Noles fourth consecutive game holding opponents under 50 percent completion percentage. Florida State leads the country allowing just 48.4 percent of opponents passes to be complete and is tied for the national lead with just four passing touchdowns surrendered.
FSU has held all nine opponents under 30 points this season, the longest active streak in the ACC and fourth-longest in the country. The Seminoles have won 15 consecutive games, the third-longest streak in the nation and tied for the fifth-longest in school history.
Offensively, the Seminoles have racked up back-to-back 500-yard games on the road for the first time since 2001. Quarterback Jordan Travis – despite missing a pair of Biletnikoff Award candidates in Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson – passed for a season-high 360 yards and has accounted for multiple touchdowns in 16 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the country and the second-longest in the ACC over the last 20 years.
FSU’s offense leads the ACC in fewest interceptions thrown (2, No. 2 nationally), fewest turnovers (5, No. 3 nationally), scoring (39.6 points per game, No. 9), passing efficiency (162.68, No. 11) and fewest tackles for loss allowed (4.56 TFL per game, No. 26).
Florida State has now been included in seven consecutive CFP rankings dating to last season, when the Noles improved each week in November, jumping from 23rd to a final spot of 13th.
FSU remained No. 4 in the Associated Press and Coaches Polls, marking 10 straight weeks in the top-five of both polls.
Florida State hosts Miami on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on ABC for its final ACC regular season game.
