No. 5 Oregon and No. 1 Indiana to Meet in the CFP Semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl

Ducks and Hoosiers will face off in Atlanta for a berth in the

College Football Playoff National Championship

ATLANTA (Jan. 1, 2026) – The No. 5 Oregon Ducks and No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers are set to meet in the 2026 College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

The 58th annual Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will be held at 7:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 9 from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and will be nationally televised by ESPN. The winner of the game will advance to play in the 2026 CFP National Championship Game Monday, Jan. 19 at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

Both teams moved on to this year’s CFP Semifinal round after winning their quarterfinal games earlier today. The Ducks are set to make their second CFP Semifinal after a 23–0 win over No. 4 Texas Tech in the Capital One Orange Bowl, while the Hoosiers secured the program’s first CFP Semifinal after defeating No. 9 Alabama 38-3 in the Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential.

Indiana will make its third trip to the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and Oregon is set to make its first-ever appearance in the game. The Hoosiers fell 22-27 to Tennessee in 1988 and 23-27 to Auburn in 1990.

This year’s matchup will be the first game between two teams from the same conference in the Bowl’s 58-year history. It also represents the fifth meeting between Oregon and Indiana, but their first in the postseason. The series is currently tied 2-2 after the Hoosiers defeated the Ducks 30-20 in Eugene earlier this season on Oct. 11.

“It’s only fitting a game of this magnitude be played here in the Capital of College Football,” said Gary Stokan, Peach Bowl, Inc. CEO and president. “This will be the perfect stage for the first-ever playoff meeting between these two programs as they both vie for the chance to make history with a berth in the CFP National Championship.”

This is the fourth time the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl has hosted a CFP Semifinal game, but its first in the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff format. The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl previously hosted CFP Semifinals in 2016, 2019 and 2022 during the four-team College Football Playoff and hosted its first-ever CFP Quarterfinal Jan. 1, 2025.

The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl last hosted a CFP Semifinal game in 2022 when eventual National Champion No. 1 Georgia defeated No. 4 Ohio State 42-41. That game’s attendance of 79,330 set new Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and Mercedes-Benz Stadium records, surpassing the number of fans who attended Super Bowl LIII, the 2018 and 2025 CFP National Championship Games and the SEC Championship in the same venue.
