INDIANAPOLIS – After a 2-0 road trip in Michigan this week, Youngstown State has swept the Nike® #HLWBB weekly awards. Junior guard Chelsea Olson had a milestone week for the Penguins, surpassing 750 career points, 500 career rebounds and 250 career assists last week, just the third YSU player to do so, and averaging a double-double for the week to earn Nike® #HLWBB Player of the Week honors. Freshman forward Jen Wendler is the Nike® Freshman of the Week for the first time after posting 11.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in the two victories.

Chelsea Olson averaged a double-double last week in leading the Penguins to a pair of road wins. As YSU’s only player on the floor who played more than 10 minutes per game last season, she averaged 14.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Olson filled the stat sheet with 14 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals in a 79-74 win at Oakland on Thursday. She followed that with 15 points and eight rebounds at Detroit Mercy on Saturday.

Jen Wendler had 11 points in both games while averaging 7.5 rebounds and an impressive .545 shooting percentage in a pair of YSU road wins. At Oakland on Thursday, she scored 11 points and tied her career high with nine rebounds while also making her first career 3-pointer. She then had 11 points and six rebounds in just 23 minutes at Detroit Mercy on Saturday. She was 7-for-7 from the free-throw line against the Titans and 9-for-9 from the charity stripe for the week.
