INDIANAPOLIS – Oakland’s Xavier Hill-Mais recorded back-to-back 20-point double-double performances to help the Golden Grizzlies extend their win streak to four games to earn Nike® #HLMBB Player of the Week. Hugo Ferreira of Cleveland State averaged 9.5 points, 2.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds for the Vikings to be named Nike® #HLMBB Freshman of the Week as the Horizon League announced its men’s basketball weekly honors on Monday.

Hill-Mais collected his second-straight #HLMBB Player of the Week honor as he has recorded three-straight double-doubles and five-consecutive 20-plus point performances, highlighted by a season-high 31 points against Green Bay on Senior Day. Hill-Mais pulled down 13 rebounds to complete the double-double against the Phoenix. Down the stretch, it was Hill-Mais as he forced the second overtime, hit a triple to take the lead with 21 seconds to go in the final overtime and then knocked down free throws to put Oakland up three with 10.5 left. On Friday night’s win against Milwaukee, Hill-Mais had a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds. He had two blocks in each victory. For the week, the senior forward finished with 27.0 points and 12.0 rebounds and shot 58.6 percent from the floor.
#HLMBB Freshman of the Week

In his two games this past week, Ferreira compiled 9.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals as he averaged more than 24 minutes per game. In Saturday’s contest against Wright State, the freshman guard poured in a career-high 14 points, to go along with three assists, three steals and two rebounds in 31 minutes of play. Saturday’s game marked the fifth time this season Ferriera has contributed 10-plus points. On Thursday against Northern Kentucky, the native of Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal made his eighth start of the season and chipped in five points, two rebounds and two assists.
