Hermine Kraljevic a highly regarded stylist in Miami Beach was given the opportunity to by a hair salon.
With her husband, Marco Cimmino, a creative marketing manager, she decided to take it. They rebranded as HK Salon, grew the business, and now opening a second location at 1930-C Harrison Street in Downtown Hollywood.
“We were scouting for locations, hoping to find access to a different clientele,” he explained, “and we loved the vibe of Hollywood. We see it as a vibrant, up-and-coming area. There’s a lot of exciting new development happening, and we think it’s a great place to connect with a stylish and creative clientele.”
To Kraljevic and Cimmino, HK Salon stands out in two ways: first because HK Salon only works on hair.
“We chose to focus on hair styling for a couple of reasons,” explained Kraljevic. “First, we believe hair is a fantastic way to express yourself. There are endless possibilities when it comes to cuts, colors, and styles, allowing you to truly create a unique look.
“Secondly,” she continued, “we wanted to create a welcoming environment that’s free of harsh chemical odors. While we love the idea of perhaps offering a full range of beauty services in the future, for now, we’re focusing on hair to keep the air fresh and pleasant for everyone.”
But the real difference, according to Cimmino, is in the personality of Kraljevic.
“On the client side,” he said, “there is often insecurity coming into a hair place, especially when it’s new. And on the stylist side, there is often the attitude of ‘I know what to do already’. But my wife is totally the opposite. She’s accommodating, laid back, there’s no conflict ever, and through her way of listening, understanding, and being available, she was able to build up loyalty with generations of clients.”
