MTEN: Miami Notches Undefeated Home Season

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 33 University of Miami men’s tennis team (13-8, 6-6) secured the 4-2 win over the No. 55 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (13-13, 1-11) on Saturday afternoon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

The Hurricanes dropped the doubles point but prevailed in singles to end the home season undefeated.

On court three, Notre Dame’s Luis Llorens Saracho and Peter Nad took the 6-1 win over Mehdi Sadaoui and Jules Garot, before No. 72 Martin Katz and Antonio Prat dominated No. 68 Sebastian Dominko and Chase Thompson, 6-1, at the top court. Nacho Serra Sanchez and Leonardo Dal Boni then fell 6-4 to Jameson Corsillo and Yu Zhang.

Miami earned back-to-back courts in singles to lead as No. 24 Katz took his second highest ranked win of his career with a 6-4, 6-0 win over No. 18 Dominko and Sanchez grabbed the 6-2, 6-2 win on court three over Zhang. The Fighting Irish’s Kyran Magimay defeated Garot, 6-4, 7-5, on court six to even the score at 2-2. Battling to a third set, Dal Boni secured the court with a 6-2, 6-7 (8), 7-6 (5) fight over Peter Nad on court five.

The Hurricanes will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to face Florida State for the final regular season match on April 11.
