DETROIT – The Motor City Cruise announced today they acquired Zavier Simpson from the Osceola Magic via trade in exchange for its 2024 second round draft pick and the returning rights of Reggie Perry and Devontae Cacok.
Simpson (6’0”, 190lbs) played four games with the Detroit Pistons during the 2023 NBA Summer League. He averaged 5.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Last season in the G League, Simpson played 50 games (started in all) with the formally Lakeland, now Osceola Magic, and averaged 17.1 points, 4.6, and 8.9 assists per game during the showcase and regular season.
Simpson has played a total of 112 G League games, averaging 14.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game (showcase and regular season combined). He also appeared in four NBA games with the Oklahoma City Thunder, averaging 11.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game.
