NN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Michigan Athletic Department announced Thursday (Feb. 4) the season ticket renewal and preferred seat contribution plan for the upcoming 2021 football season. This plan is tentative and subject to change based on health and safety guidelines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are taking a methodical approach to 2021 ticketing due to the unknown future of crowds at sporting events,” said Warde Manuel, the Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics. “With that in mind, we felt this was the right time to begin the renewal process for the upcoming season.
“We appreciate the patience and continued support of our fans as we navigate the current climate surrounding attendance at sporting events. We are incredibly grateful and thankful for the support that our loyal fan base has shown over the past year. Many of our fans elected to apply their 2020 season payments toward the 2021 season and will not have a balance for the upcoming year.”
The ticket price for the seven-game 2021 home schedule is $527 per ticket, which is the same as last season. In addition, the Preferred Seat Contribution (PSC) associated with each seat at Michigan Stadium remains unchanged for the third consecutive season.
Michigan is changing its previous process of separating the payment periods for the PSC and season ticket renewal, and will be combining them for the upcoming season. Additionally, Michigan will allow payments for season tickets and PSC to be spread out over three installments.
“This is a measure that we decided to make as a department,” added Manuel. “The process will be evaluated and consideration will be given to reverting back to the old payment option once the health and safety guidelines return to what they were during normal times.”
Fans can renew their tickets by paying all at once or in a three-month payment plan. The first third will be paid on the date of renewal, any time between April 1-23, with the second and third payments automatically charged on May 14 and June 21, respectively. Each of the payments will be one-third of the overall balance for the season ticket(s) and preferred seat contribution.

Parking Information/Requests
The athletic department utilizes the priority point system to equitably allocate the limited number of parking passes owned and operated by Michigan. With over 24,000 season ticket holders and only 1,700 parking spots available around Michigan Stadium, the allocation of parking is very limited and thus based on priority points. The window to make season parking requests for the 2021 season is Feb. 5-26.
Season Ticket Transfers
A season ticket holder can permanently transfer their season tickets to another individual. For more information, visit MGoBlue.com/go/transfer. Ticket transfer fees will vary based on the seat locations inside Michigan Stadium. The window to request season ticket transfers is Feb. 5-26, 2021.
Season Ticket Interest List
Fans interested in joining the season ticket interest list can do so by visiting the 2021 football season ticket page. The department makes every effort to offer season tickets to those joining the interest list, but new season tickets are not guaranteed. Season tickets are based on availability and will be allocated according to priority points. The deadline to join the 2021 interest list is April 30, 2021. For more details on season tickets, visit our football season ticket page.
Season Ticket Upgrades
The athletic department will consider seat upgrades for fans interested in changing their current location during the window of May 19-June 4. Season ticket holders will retain their seat location from the 2019 season unless changes were made during 2020 upgrades. If seat changes/additions were made during the 2020 upgrade period, that location will serve as your season ticket location for renewals. Further details will be shared closer to that date.
Returning Student Season Tickets
Information regarding student season tickets will be forthcoming in the near future. Returning student ticket orders will be placed from March 10-26.
