Miami Sharks Rugby Team comes to Pompano Beach

The Miami Sharks Rugby Club has moved to Pompano Beach.

Over 30 team members have chosen to relocate to the City, making the residences in Old Town Square their new home.

They have been drawn by the City’s amazing beach revitalization, the thriving culinary and arts scene in the emerging New Downtown, and the proximity to the stadium, the Sharks are ready to become an integral part of the Pompano Beach community. As one of the newest teams in the Major League Rugby Franchise, the Sharks are Florida’s first professional rugby team.

The team was particularly impressed by Old Town Square, a residential development by Adam Adache, for its modern amenities and central location. The players’ presence will bring an exciting new dynamic to the community and provide an outstanding opportunity for residents to learn more about rugby, which has been likened to a cross between football and soccer.

Residents and visitors alike will have the opportunity to meet the team at the upcoming Old Town Untapped event on April 4, 2025. The Sharks will set up a meet-and-greet tent where fans can chat with players, learn more about the team, and even meet their official mascot.

“The Miami Sharks’ choice of Pompano Beach signifies the City’s growing appeal as a premier destination for residents seeking a dynamic and welcoming community,” said Mayor Rex Hardin.

The Miami Sharks team will also bring the rugby experience to local children at planned park days in Pompano Beach. These fun-filled events will introduce young players to the sports’ exciting mix of teamwork and strategy.

The team’s second season launched in February, and home games were played at Inter Miami Stadium.
