he Miami Marlins Winter League action has begun with the organization sending seven players to the Arizona Fall League, and they are playing for the Mesa Solar Sox—the six-week season started on Tuesday, October 7th, and will conclude with the AFL Championship Game on Saturday, November 15.
Led by Manager Aaron Leanhardt, Miami’s Field Coordinator, the Solar Sox are off to a 1-3 start, following the postponement of the Arizona Fall League schedule over the weekend due to inclement weather caused by Hurricane Priscilla.
Below are highlights of four of Miami’s players during the week in the desert:
- SS Starlyn Caba, Miami’s No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has hits in both games to start his fall, going 3×7 with one run, one double, and one stolen base.
- OF Fenwick Trimble, Miami’s No. 26 prospect per MLB Pipeline, hit safely in two of three games and recorded two RBI in the season’s opener on Oct. 7 vs. Surprise.
- RHP Aiden May got the start for the Solar Sox on Oct. 10, allowing two runs on two hits over 4.0 innings pitched, with one walk and four strikeouts.
- RHP Holt Jones,who is making his second stint in the Arizona Fall League (also in 2022), tossed 2.0 scoreless innings with two strikeouts on Oct. 7.
The Solar Sox return to action on Tuesday, October 14 vs. the Surprise Saguaros at 9:30 p.m. ET following a scheduled day off on Monday.
