MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today announced that the team has traded first baseman/designated hitter Josh Bell to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Bell, 31, slashed .239/.305/.394 (95×398) in 104 games for Miami this season, with 17 doubles, 14 homers, and 49 RBI, including homers in a career-best four consecutive games from July 24-27. Since being acquired by Miami on Aug. 1, 2023 from Cleveland, Bell has hit .249 (149×598) with a .739 OPS in 157 games, including .270, .818 marks in 53 games with the Marlins to conclude last season, resulting in a 2023 Postseason appearance. The nine-year Major League veteran owns a career .258/.343/.447 (1003×3895) slash line in 1,106 games between the Pirates (2016-20), Nationals (2021-22), Padres (2022), Guardians (2023), and Marlins (2023-24). Among active switch-hitters, Bell ranks fourth in RBI (591), fifth in home runs (166) and hits, and sixth in doubles (204) and games played.
