Alcantara made his second consecutive Opening Day start in 2021, becoming the third youngest Marlins pitcher (25 years and 206 days old) to make consecutive Opening Day starts behind Dontrelle Willis in 2007 (25 years and 80 days) and Josh Beckett in 2004 (24 years and 326 days). Alcantara was the ninth Marlins pitcher to make back-to-back Opening Day starts, joining Charlie Hough (1993-94), Kevin Brown (1996-97), Alex Fernández (1999-00), Ryan Dempster (2001-02), Josh Beckett (2003-05), Dontrelle Willis (2006-07), Josh Johnson (2010-12), and José Ureña (2018-19). Johnson and Beckett are the only two pitchers to start three consecutive Opening Days for Miami.
