MIAMI MARLINS RE-SIGN MIGUEL ROJAS TO A TWO-YEAR CONTRACT

MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today announced the club has re-signed infielder Miguel Rojas to a two-year contract through the 2023 season. In 2021, his seventh season with the Marlins, Rojas set single-season career highs with 30 doubles, 36 walks and 13 stolen bases, while hitting .265 with nine home runs and 48 RBI in 132 games.

Acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers on December 11, 2014, the Venezuelan-native has played in 730 games with the Marlins, good for ninth-most games played in club history. In that time, he has produced a .271 average with 32 home runs and 224 RBI.

A Rawlings Gold Glove Award Finalist in 2020, Rojas has played 583 games at shortstop for the Marlins, including 292 over the last three seasons. He ranked second among all shortstops with 80 double plays in 2021.

Rojas is also well-regarded for his commitment to the South Florida community. He was the club’s 2021 nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award. The recognition goes to the player who best represents the game of Baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy, and positive contributions, both on and off the field. He also was the club’s 2021 Heart and Hustle Award winner, which honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit, and traditions of the game.
