MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today announced the appointment of Myrna Vaca as Executive Director of the Miami Marlins Foundation. In her role, Ms. Vaca will lead the Foundation, with a focus on building strong partnership and engagement with the South Florida community.
“It is an exciting time for our organization with Opening Day on March 28, and we are thrilled to welcome Myrna as the head of Miami Marlins Foundation ahead of the start of our season,” said Caroline O’Connor, Miami Marlins President of Business Operations. “A known leader who has years of service in our local community, Myrna brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will grow the tremendous impact that the Foundation’s programing has across South Florida. With nearly 15 years of community involvement here in Miami, she has a rich history and strong relationships that will reaffirm our commitment as the hometown team.”

In her previous role as UHealth – University of Miami Health System Director of Community Relations, Ms. Vaca managed corporate and community relations for UHealth’s comprehensive network, which includes three hospitals, more than 30 outpatient facilities in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Broward Counties, with more than 1,800 physicians and scientists. She collaborated with global and local industry partners to increase corporate partnership and community engagement.
Ms. Vaca has served on the Board of Directors for numerous local organizations, including the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, South Florida Hispanic Champer of Commerce, the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, and City Year Miami. A native of Miami, Fla., Ms. Vaca received her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Michigan, before earning her Master of Business Administration in Management from the University of Miami Herbert Business School.
The Miami Marlins Foundation strives to leave a lasting positive impact on South Florida by creating opportunities for youth to stay active, achieve academic success, and build leadership skills. Through programs focusing on wellness, empowerment, and youth baseball and softball, it aims to shape the minds of the next generation’s great leaders and athletes. In 2023, the Foundation provided baseball and softball opportunities to 34 neighborhoods across South Florida, had 8,000 athletes in youth programs, and launched the Marlins Youth Academy at Babcock Park.
