MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today announced the following promotions to their Baseball Operations Leadership:

  • Gabe Kapler – General Manager
  • Frankie Piliere – Vice President, Amateur Forecasting and Player Evaluation Initiatives
  • Vinesh Kanthan – Senior Director, Baseball Operations

“These three leaders have each made a meaningful impact since joining our team, exemplifying the values that define our culture: driving innovation across every area of the team, leading with a forward-thinking mindset, and elevating those around them as great teammates,” said Peter Bendix, President of Baseball Operations. “Their advancement is a testament to the caliber of talent and person within our organization and our continued commitment to building a culture of collaboration and excellence.”

“It is an exciting time to be part of the Marlins organization, and I am ready to continue the great work we are doing here, alongside Peter and our entire Baseball Operations staff,” said Kapler. “The growth and momentum we’ve built are a direct reflection of a clear vision, a strong culture, and an incredible team working together toward a shared goal. I’m proud to help continue that progress and contribute to what’s ahead.”

Kapler, who becomes the sixth General Manager in Franchise history, began his tenure with the Marlins as an Assistant General Manager, with a focus on player, coaching and staff development. In 2025, the Marlins Minor League system made club history with four different affiliates reaching the Postseason at their respective levels, including Jacksonville which claimed the Triple-A National Championship. Prior to joining Miami, Kapler spent the previous six seasons as a Major League manager, with Philadelphia (2018-19) and San Francisco (2020-23). The Los Angeles-native also served as the Dodgers’ Director of Player Development from 2015-17, during which he worked with Marlins Manager Clayton McCullough.

Piliere joined the Marlins as Director of Amateur Scouting, overseeing the club’s amateur scouts and taking the lead in the First-Year Player Draft. During his two years in his role with the Marlins, nine of the club’s top 30 prospects, according to MLB Pipeline, have been acquired through the MLB Draft. Piliere previously served three seasons as the Seattle Mariners’ Assistant Director of Amateur Scouting in a six-year stint with the organization. His experience also includes advance and pro scouting, national crosschecking, and working as a contributing writer and analyst for sites such as FanGraphs and D1Baseball.com. A native of upstate New York, Piliere previously worked for both the Cleveland Guardians and Texas Rangers organizations.

Before joining the Marlins as Director of Baseball Operations, Kanthan spent five seasons with the Texas Rangers organization, including the final two years as their Assistant Director of Baseball Operations. With Texas, he was involved in all aspects of the department, including roster management, administrative, and contract responsibilities for the Major League club, while also playing a significant role in Sport Science and Performance. The New Jersey native began working in Major League Baseball in 2016, working in Ticket Services for the Phillies before spending the 2017-18 seasons in Baseball Operations with the Rays.

The Marlins begin the 2026 season at home vs. the Colorado Rockies on Thursday, March 26. For more information on the Miami Marlins, head to Marlins.com or MarlinsBeisbol.com.
