MIAMI MARLINS ACQUIRE PITCHER MICHAEL PETERSEN FROM ATLANTA BRAVES

Right-handed reliever optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville; To make room on 40-man

roster, RHP Jesús Tinoco transferred to 60-day Injured List

MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today acquired right-handed relief pitcher Michael Petersen from

the Atlanta Braves in exchange for cash considerations. Petersen has been optioned to Triple-
A Jacksonville. To make room on the 40-man roster, RHP Jesús Tinoco has been transferred

to 60-day Injured List.
Petersen, 31, began the 2025 season pitching within the Los Angeles Angels’ organization
with Triple-A Salt Lake, and joined Atlanta on April 2. He has spent a majority of the campaign
with Triple-A Gwinnet in the Braves’ Minor League system, going 0-0 with a 3.13 ERA (8
ER/23.0 IP) across 20 relief appearances. He recorded 26 strikeouts compared to seven
walks. He made four appearances with the Braves, posting 0-0, 4.05 (3 ER/6.2 IP) marks,
with five strikeouts to two walks.
The 6-foot-7 right-hander began last season with Triple-A Oklahoma City in the Dodgers’
Minor League system, appearing in 23 games in relief with a 1.61 ERA (4 ER/22.1 I) and 31
strikeouts before earning promotion. He had his contract selected by Dodgers on June 16 and
made Major League debut on June 18 at Colorado, earning his first career Major League win
that same game. He appeared in nine games with a 3-0 record and 4.50 ERA (6 ER/12.0 IP)
in first Major League action. Petersen finished the 2024 season with the Miami Marlins, who
claimed him off waivers on September 10. He pitched in five games, posting 0-1, 4.76 (3
ER/5.2 IP) marks.
Born in Middlesex, England, Petersen represented Great Britain in the 2023 World Baseball
Classic.
The Marlins 40-man roster remains full at 40.
