MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today announced that the team has acquired top prospects INF Deyvison (day-vee-son) De Los Santos and OF Andrew Pintar from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for LHP A.J. Puk.
De Los Santos, 21, is rated as the sixth-best prospect in the Diamondbacks system per Baseball America and has slashed .325/.376/.635 (111×372) with 18 doubles, two triples, 28 home runs, and 84 RBI in 87 games split between Triple-A Reno (49 games) and Double-A Amarillo (38 games) this season. The right-handed hitter was named the Texas League Player of the Month for April, batting .377 (32×85) with three doubles, one triple, seven home runs, and 18 RBI in 21 games with the Sod Poodles, leading the league in hits, home runs, and total bases (58).
The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native was selected to the 2024 Futures Game held on July 13 in Arlington, Texas during the recent All-Star festivities, joining Marlins prospects RHP Noble Meyer and LHP Thomas White on the National League team.
De Los Santos owns a .293 AVG (450×1534), 79 doubles, eight triples, 78 home runs, and 288 RBI over 388 games in the Diamondbacks system (2021-24), appearing in 228 games (226 starts) at third base, 138 games (133 starts) at first base, and seven starts at designated hitter. Signed as an International free agent by Arizona in 2019, he was selected by Cleveland in the Major League phase of the 2023 Rule 5 Draft but was later returned to Arizona on March 22, 2024.
Pintar, 23, is rated as the 17th-best prospect in the Diamondbacks system per Baseball America and has slashed .285/.384/.468 (75×263) with 15 doubles, three triples, nine home runs, and 38 RBI in 69 games split between Double-A Amarillo (10 games), High-A Hillsboro (57 games), and the ACL D-Backs (two games) this season. He began the year with Hillsboro, batting .304 (66×27) with .919 OPS, leading the Hops in average, home runs, and OPS during his time with the club.
The right-handed hitter owns a .266 AVG (127×477) with 26 doubles, four triples, 12 home runs, 58 RBI, and 25 stolen bases in 127 games in the Diamondbacks system from 2023-24. Over his career, he has made 76 starts in center field, 20 at second base, and 10 in left field. The Provo, Utah native was selected by Arizona in the fifth round (138th overall) of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft after compiling a .298 AVG (93×312), 17 doubles, three triples, nine home runs, and 46 RBI in three seasons with Brigham Young University (Provo, Utah).
Puk, 29, has gone 4-8 with one save and a 4.30 ERA (21 ER/44.0 IP) in 32 appearances (four starts) for Miami this season. The southpaw, who was acquired by Miami from Oakland prior the 2023 season, set career highs last year in saves (15) and strikeouts (78) while going 7-5 with a 3.97 ERA (25 ER/56.2 IP) in 58 relief appearances. He has compiled a 17-19 record, 3.85 ERA (82 ER/191.2 IP), 70 walks, 228 strikeouts, and 20 saves in 174 appearances (four starts) across parts of five Major League seasons with Oakland (2019-22) and Miami (2023-24).
The Marlins 40-man roster now stands at 39.
