ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 39 University of Miami men’s tennis team (13-11) closed out the 2024-25 season in the first round of the NCAA Team Championship, falling to the No. 15 UCF Knights (23-8), 4-1, on Saturday afternoon at the USTA National Campus.
The Hurricanes dropped the doubles point and fell short in singles to close out their memorable season.
On court three, UCF’s Santiago Giamichelle and Mehdi Benchakroun took the 6-3 win over Jules Garot and Leonardo Dal Boni, before the Knights secured the opening point with a 6-4 win from Yassine Dlimi and Emilio Sanchez over Mehdi Sadaoui and Martin Katz on court two.
Miami tied the match at one-all when Nacho Serra Sanchez took down Branger, 6-2, 6-4 on court three to put the Hurricanes on the board. UCF then went on to take back-to-back courts when No. 63 Dlimi earned the 6-3, 6-3 win over No. 24 Katz at the top court and Paul Colin grabbed the 6-3, 6-4 victory against Sadaoui.
Minutes later, Giamichelle secured the match with a 7-6 (5), 6-2 win over Dal Boni at the No. 5 spot.
At 13-11 overall, the Hurricanes recorded their first berth back to the NCAA tournament since 2022 and their 30th appearance in program history.
