WHEN: Tuesday, December 3, 2019 Student surprise: 10:30 a.m.

WHERE: West Miami Middle School, Innovation Space 7525 S.W. 24th Street, Miami, FL 33155

WHY: In support of VMM, through its FOOTBALL UNITES™ community program, Miami Dolphins Defensive End Christian Wilkins selected VMM as his choice for the NFL’s annual “My Cause, My Cleats” initiative. This program allows players and teams around the league to unveil their specially designed cleats, which support their cause or community program. M-DCPS launched a District-wide contest to have K-12 students design the VMM cleat. Wilkins will wear the winning cleat design during the Dolphins – Cincinnati Bengals game on December 22, 2019 at Hard Rock Stadium.

VMM is the very successful and exciting values education initiative that M-DCPS launched during the 2015-16 school year to teach and promote the District’s nine core values. This initiative aims to support schools by creating a culture where everyone is treated with respect, dignity and kindness.

NOTE: The winning student does not yet know that her design beat out more than 80 other entries.
