Miami Dade Presents for Pets and McNab House is nearing completion

Miami-Dade Animal Services begins Presents for Pets

From David Volz

Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department (Animal Services) – in collaboration with the Miami-Dade Public Library System (MDPLS) – launched the second annual Presents for Pets donation drive for our community’s shelter pets. Starting today, through January 31, 2023, donations will be collected at numerous Miami-Dade County facilities, including select public libraries. Our county’s homeless pets need treats and toys to keep them entertained and enriched, as well as blankets and pet beds to keep them warm and cozy while they wait for their fur-ever families this holiday season.

Animal Services and MDPLS are asking families to drop off gifts to show their support for our furry friends. Additionally, these gifts help provide needed supplies to pet parents taking care of shelter animals through our foster program.

“Donating pet beds, blankets, toys and treats to our shelter pets is a great way to make a direct positive impact on the day-to-day life of our shelter pets,” said Bronwyn Stanford, Animal Services Director.

Pompano Beach McNab House is nearing completion
By David Volz

The holiday lights decorating The McNab House in Pompano Beach offer a preview of the beautiful site to come.  The plans for the restaurant and botanical gardens are moving ahead. Public meetings have taken place where people could meet with representatives from Bermello, Ajamil and Partners. The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) has accepted a proposal from executives from Mad Room Hospitality to design, revitalize, and operate the restaurant, wine bar, patio, and event space at the venue. Negotiations have commenced and we will keep you updated.

Mad Room Hospitality is the team behind renowned restaurant brands including Ball & Chain, Taquerias el Mexicano, Los Altos, and many more. In addition, the group was selected to renovate and reinvent the Mai Kai Restaurant and Polynesian Show after devastating water damage destroyed much of the iconic venue.

During the CRA Meeting on November 15th, Mad Room Hospitality showcased concepts for the restaurant which complement the architectural design of The McNab House, while bringing forth a coastal farmhouse style. The proposed menu will feature a modern twist on the farm-to-fork seasonal concept, while the Cellar at McNab House will emulate the allure of the 1920’s era wine bar. The proposal also provided concepts for the patio courtyard and event space.
