Miami Dade Public works holds ground breaking of VOX Miami Phase II
From David Volz
The Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) joined TREO Group – a Miami-based real estate investment and development firm for the groundbreaking of VOX Miami Phase II, a unique mixed-use, transit-oriented student housing development adjacent to the South Miami Metrorail station.
Transit Oriented Communities (TOC) such as VOX Miami help enhance connectivity for area residents and businesses for safer accessibility to jobs, stores, and schools. VOX Miami enjoys a strategic location near the University of Miami’s main campus and squarely positioned at one of the region’s most heavily trafficked and recognizable intersections – US1 and Sunset Drive.
Phase I of the community development is a unique, adaptive reuse project which was constructed above the previously existing five-story Metrorail parking garage with over 650 parking spaces. Phase I was successfully completed in August 2021. Upon completion, VOX Miami Phase I and Phase II combined will consist of 262 student housing units and approximately 15,000 SF of ground floor retail space.
Miami-Dade Animal Services announces Home for the Holidays campaign
From David Volz
This holiday season, Miami-Dade County Animal Services has announced the return of its beloved “Home for the Holidays” campaign, dedicated to finding loving homes for our county’s shelter pets. Through December 31st, 2023, Animal Services will waive adoption fees for dogs and cats four months and older. Adopters are responsible for a $30 dog licensing fee. Puppies are $85 and kittens are $35.
All adoptions will include the initial set of age-appropriate vaccines, microchip, deworming, and spay/neuter surgery.
With more than 900 adoring pets eagerly awaiting their loving families, the Animal Services’ Pet Adoption and Protection Center, along with various offsite adoption events, will be hosting this heartwarming initiative. The goal is to provide the invaluable gift of unconditional love and lifelong companionship to as many families as possible, while alleviating the shelter overpopulation crisis.
The adoption hours at the Pet Adoption and Protection Center are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additionally, off-site adoption locations can be found by visiting Animal Services’ Contact Us webpage.
