BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University’s Robin Calais has been honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as its 2020 South Region Most Improved Senior.
Calais enjoyed a standout senior season on the court, posting a 6-2 singles and 4-2 doubles record to help lead the 10th-ranked Fighting Knights to a 9-1 overall record. For his career, he finishes with a 21-4 singles record, which included many critical ‘clinching’ points for his team.
The Basel, Switzerland native is the first Fighting Knight men’s tennis player to receive this award; the program’s seventh-overall regional player accolade. Most recently, Lucca Baptista earned the ITA’s South Region Player to Watch in 2019.
All regional award winners, including Calais, will now be pushed forward for a vote on the ITA National Awards. The national winners of the awards will be announced next Tuesday, May 26 at 11 a.m. ET during a special virtual awards ceremony. The awards ceremony can be viewed on the ITA’s Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube.
