Torres (-2) finished the first round of action tied for 12th in the field of 108 student-athletes.

- Torres began his round with a bogey on the first hole but settled in with a pair of pars and a birdie over his next three holes.
- Torres tallied another bogey, his second of the afternoon, on hole five. He followed with three consecutive pars and closed the front-nine with a birdie on nine.
- Torres opened the back-nine with back-to-back pars on 10 and 11.
- After bogeying on 12, Torres closed the round with three pars and three birdies across his final six holes, finishing the day at two-under and tied for 12th place.
