Men’s Cross Country Posts Second-Place Finish in Season Opening Meet


MELBOURNE, Fla. 
– Lynn University’s men’s cross country program finished second at its season-opening meet, the Florida Tech Invitational, on Saturday morning. Led by Eric Silva, Lynn had four runners inside the top-10.

INSIDE THE MEET:

Location: Wickham Park | Melbourne, Fla.

Race Length: 8k – 4.97 miles

HOW IT HAPPENED:

·         Lynn totaled 58 points, finishing ahead of SSC foes Palm Beach Atlantic (71), Florida Tech (81) and Nova Southeastern (115). 

·         Silva crossed the line with a time of 27:20.97, placing sixth to lead the Blue and White men.

·         Bryan Ryder, Josh Skielnik and Julian Yescas were right on Silva’s heels, placing eighth, ninth and 10th, respectively.

·         Freshman Alex Miranda and John Ross Donnes took on their first official collegiate race and made it into Lynn’s top-7. 

BEYOND THE FINISH LINE:

·         Silva’s time is a personal-best for the sophomore.

·         This was Lynn’s first-ever appearance at the Florida Tech Invite and 2nd is the highest-ever finish for the Blue and White since the program was established in 2018.

·         All four of the Fighting Knights top-10 finishers were sophomores.

Lynn will compete in the Mountain Dew Invitational, which features several Division-I programs next Saturday, September 14 in Gainesville, Fla.
