Men’s Basketball – #1 Sharks Dominate in Bounceback Victory

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No.1 Nova Southeastern Sharks Men’s Basketball team got back on track with a dominant 107-59 win over the Tampa Spartans in Sunshine State Conference action on Saturday afternoon from the Rick Case Arena.

How it Happened

First Half – Both the Sharks and Spartans were aggressive on the offensive end to open up the game, trading buckets back-and-forth to put the score at 6-5 in favor of Nova Southeastern. Nova Southeastern broke the game open with a 20-2 run, spanning four minutes of game action, and extended the lead to 26-7 over Tampa. During the run, NSU received contributions from MJ IraldiRyan WalshGianFranco GrafalsTrey DoomesAlex MangoldIsaiah Fuller and Ryan Davis. Nearing the midway point of the first half, Mike Moore knocked down a three-pointer, pushing the lead to 35-13 for the Sharks. Nova Southeastern maintained a 20+ point advantage for the majority of the half and went into the break leading 48-31 over the Spartans.

Second Half – The Sharks maintained their high-intensity play in the second half, starting our with a 15-3 run, and further extended the lead to 63-36. Nova Southeastern’s aggressive defensive pressure proved to much for the Spartans to handle, as NSU outscored Tampa 19-3 off of turnovers in the second half. The large lead allowed the Sharks to get quality minutes for the reserve unit, as NSU’s bench outscored Tampa’s 41-10 in the final 20 minutes. The Sharks cruised to a dominant, 107-59 victory over the Spartans.
